I am trying to create usb with windows xp. I have copied the XP install disk to a file on the PC and am using WinBuilder [080].  I created a project and am runing  the verify Project script. I get a return of of the following in the WBVerify.log

Generated by psc program 'WBVerify' version 2.2.3
Date: 2013-Dec-03 07:26:11

[Counts]
Missing=0
Obsolete=0
Errors=5
Warnings=0

Errors:
"Build Model needs at least version 076 of WinBuilder"
"Copy and Expand files needs at least version 077.102 of WinBuilder"
"ImDisk needs at least version 071.03 of WinBuilder"
"Explorer needs at least version 071.03 of WinBuilder"
"This project needs XP or W2003 as source"

I am very confused by these errors.

Since I am using version 080, why am I getting the first 4 errors?

And the source directory is the file that contains the copy of the XP disk, why am I getting the last error.

Can any one suggest what I need to do to get this to work.

This is my first time using Winbuilder and my first project.

Thanks

Which project are you using?

Where did you download?

Why 80? The latest supported version is 82.

I tried that project and also got error messages.

Unfortunatelly this LiveXP project is no longer supported.

Try my working remake http://reboot.pro/fi...77-livexp-2012/, using WinBuilder 082.

Or better: Maybe you want to use an actual WinBuilder Project. Try http://reboot.pro/fi...342-winbuilder/

This project was working fine for me back in 2011. Using the updated version from Peter should also work.

And the source directory is the file that contains the copy of the XP disk, why am I getting the last error.

Do you mean a file with an .ISO extension?

If this is the case then you will need to extract the files inside the ISO onto a folder and then use that folder as the source from where the Install CD with the Windows XP files are copied. The old winbuilder that you are using does not have the means to extract files from ISO.

To extract the files I recommend using 7zip.

This is my first time using Winbuilder and my first project.

Is Windows XP a must-have?

If not, I'd recommend a more modern boot disk based on Windows 7 or above since they were build with USB drives in mind. The more recent editions of winbuilder make it quite easy to build such boot disk without hassle.

To make a USB boot disk, cdob recently recommended these steps: http://reboot.pro/to...in7pe/?p=179725

Since you are starting, my advice is that start with something simple to see something working and then move up in terms of features/complexity as you get more comfortable.

Try the most recent winbuilder, follow the quick start steps: http://reboot.pro/fi...342-winbuilder/

Good luck, do let us know how it goes. :)
