I have successfully created a (semi)working bootdisk ISO. I want to be able to add my own apps and programs. However because winbuilder has seemingly gone semi-retarded and backpedaled from a nice GUI (that I unfortunately have been able to use because I joined this party late) to a stupid command line with no /help function, no proper tutorials, and useless commands like /art and /say I have yet to figure out HOW TO ACTUALLY INSTALL SCRIPTS. I have spent a half hour trying to install Google Chrome and I just have no clue how to do it. I have both the program file script and the file container script in one directory ready to go, but jesus how the hell do I tell winbuilder to actually go to that directory and install it.

I'm so fucking sick of looking at this stupid command line.

Interesting attitude. :dubbio:

However the "old" version of Winbuilder (the one with GUI, etc.) is still active, working and widely used, the "I joined this party late" excuse does not stand.

Get one of the several projects using the GUI Winbuilder and be happy. :)

This is a relatively recent (and working) simple project that may be a good start point and that is documented:

http://reboot.pro/fi...le/357-mistype/

http://mistype.reboo...ocs/readme.html

Presuming you want to build a PE 3/4/5, once you have become familiar with the GUI winbuilder, you will probably want to look around for projects Win7PE_SE, Win8PE_SE and Win8.1_SE.

apologies for the attitude I am just so incredibly damn frustrated with this. I realize the old version is still probably available, but I don't typically like using the old version of software.

I will look into those projects but in the mean time you have still yet to answer the proposed question. How do I use the command line winbuilder to add scripts to my bootdisk.iso so they can be loaded into the OS for use.

Point is that I don't know , and I suspect that noone else (with the obvious exclusion of Nuno and Peter) actually know. :w00t:

If you prefer, you are absolutely correct in this part:

... command line with no /help function, no proper tutorials....

Sure, I understand it. :)

Yep, life is tough :(, the "old" version is documented and there are several working projects and plenty already made (and tested) .scripts for many programs, the "new" version has a much more limited set of projects to choose from (I believe one only, but i may be wrong) and no (or next to none) .scripts for it available.

Maybe if you consider the "old" version as "stable" and the "new" one as "experimental" you will have less "moral" difficulties in using the "stable" one.

Have a quick look here:
http://reboot.pro/to...849-winbuilder/
http://reboot.pro/to...d-for-building/
http://reboot.pro/to...lly-bob-thread/
usually this kind of talks are not particularly welcome, and in any case they already took place.

you cannot install scripts to the new winbuilder.

you can however use the "old" version which still works quite well.

Which WinBuilder are you using?  I use the "old" WinBuilder, and added a script for Pale Moon (a new and improved Firefox) last weekend, and it works well.  I'm working on one for Chrome, it doesn't look like it should be difficult (although it isn't done yet, lol).

Homes32: if you can't add scripts to the new WinBuilder, does that mean it only has limited use?  I've not tried it, so I really don't know much about it - just what I've read here.

In this case the "old version" isn't really old. The "new version" is actually a completely different program (still in development) with the same name. Its very confusing if you haven't been around but I think wonko has covered this well enough in multiple threads.

limited yes. it will build you a working PE rather quickly out of the box, which is good but it is virtually useless because you can't customize it. Keep in mind that the "new" version is in development and defiantly isn't ready for production use.

Just to throw in my $0.02 as well...I *think* you can "extend" the new version, since it is basically a java based system (i.e. Java is the scripting language)...But I fully agree with the above...the "stable" version is still good enough for most tasks, evenb if it is a bit "long in the tooth" (as they say)...
