Developpment request: Fullautomatic malware removal and report over pxe
Posted 15 December 2009 - 09:05 PM
Can somebody script / sell a full automatic solution which completes following tasks:
After booting over pxe, the client computers are FULLY automatic cleaned from malware and a report with appropriate MAC address is filed/printed.
I'm open to all (payable) antivirus / malware scanners

But I will never do so.
Reason is one of my main rules:
Do not give a computer program (or script) the ability to "automagically" change a live system w/o user interaction!

For example, if the boot disks runs spybot search and destroy without interaction, then it could only do more good than evil since on workstations environments, people don't own administrative rights to install software and usually save files as backup on either the D:\ drive or some remote drive on the intranet.
If the OS goes broke, it's usually a painless operation to reinstall everything again. Usually there is already an image ready for this case.

Nevertheless, if you have time, either myself or other members of the community might help you solve the doubts that you find along the way.
Don't be afraid to ask questions regarding how to get started and get yourself moving to see this goal possible.
I would suggest that you keep the first topic updated with your current progress. Also, write a list of things that are still missing for you to understand and ask around where more info can be read. In most cases, using the search tool or projects that already exist is the best way to get things going.
