Overall update on LiveXP server just finished. :( :)

What is new:
***
We have NEW 'Components' section. Organisation of scripts now mostly fits the Ideas of Nuno and others.

1 - Initial scripts to check viability of project or adding customization options
2 - Build structure of windows (registry, system files, etc)
3 - Core (explorer, MMC, etc, etc)
4 - Tweaks (Explorer customizations, etc)
5 - App scripts
6 - Drivers
7 - Post processing (cab/UPX compression, etc)
8 - ISO image creation
9 - Emulation / DVD burn

Sub sections under 'Components' are organised in a similar way which is already used by fxscrpt (RegFactory)
Ps: discussion topic here 'simplicity of use' vs 'chaos pur'

Edit: This logically means, compared with old structure of LiveXP, some of the scripts location change (example) , (some scripts from apps moved to components) that is the main reason of this topic, to announce the change.

***
All LiveXP 'Apps' scripts are updated.
+ Most of the project specific script are moved to 'Components' section. Rest of them have protection in order not to be used by other PE2, PE3 projects :w00t: .

+ Now all Application Scripts are compatible with all projects including **multiarchitecture (x64/x86) projects which uses latest capi. One can simply copy* Apps folder of LiveXP to any project s(h)e wants.
* nativeEx based projects can also use ExternalApps.Script :( .
* Maybe we can download directly in future....(wbdownload :w00t: )
Tip for PEx64 users: Scripts that are added to PEx64 builds can be easly found by searching (CTRL+F) x64 at http://livexp.boot-land.net/

+ Addings (RunFromRam) and fixes (RegAddBoot) are made on scripts to fit the demands of other projects. (PE2, PE3 - VistaPEcapi, Win7)

+ Most of the apps scripts now have a picture to serve Graphical Memory of users

+ Most of the apps scripts now have 'Launch' button
* one can easly practice what the application is without making the build or manual extract.
* A nice side effect is one can also use Winbuilder as a 'Portable Application' menu launcher. B)

+ Most of the apps scripts have the downloaded setup or pack file.
*Helps script maintance easier.
*Avoids some License Issues.
*One can easly extract and make the Install in case of none-internet environment.

+ Scripts that essentially requires download are NOT selected by default. :dubbio:
*Low bandwith users can easly make builds at first Blue

***
All scripts except "Apps" are flagged as Recommended or Minimal
*When you download LiveXP Recommended (default), now you get all engine and vital applications.
*After having LiveXP Recommended , if you download Complete, you Only get Other Super application scripts.
(A nice side effect: now Peter can make tests more easly when required  )
with other words:
End User is The Admiral
LiveXP Recommended is The Aircraft Carrier :( with some Exclusive Jet Planes
LiveXP Complete offers additional Jet Planes to set up a Fleet quickly. ;)

LiveXP Project Info:
Special Thanks to :

Lancelot (The Turtle): A good guy who Loves LiveXP and helping on maintance of LiveXP. (no coding skill etc. ;), just a good man)
Credits:
To ALLLLLL who spend their time to share many things with all community, who make many things possible with their contributions by feed back, utilities, scripts, tutorials, packages, ...... You will see some of the names on scripts and applications, keep in mind there are a lot of heros that contribute this project whom we don't know their names.

A freezed (packed) build of new 'LiveXP Recommended' can be obtained from here.
'LiveXP Complete' Downloadable through with Winbuilder.
Have fun

It always was there :dubbio: but not noticed by many users  (We have archives back to 2008.07.13) . In past package was updated ~monthly (or ~2), You might have an effect on the frequency of uploads, for a long while when there is a vital change on LiveXP project we update the package quickly. :w00t:

@all
Thanks for all nice words, I am glad you like the changes.

Thanks, Well done.
I tried the build as default Complete Project and built fine. When booted and tried a program I had not used before I get the following error.

Double Commander:
Unable to open file "X:\Program Files\doublecmd\doublecmd.ini"
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption
Press Cancel to kill the program.

Even if you select OK, nothing happens. The program is not runned.
I guess because it need to write to ini file by default. The other explorer has a similar pop up about the ini file something.
But that one launches.

Changing 'Settings' drive to system should get rid of it but you need a writable system drive like bootsdi, firadisk working very nice!

1) Minor contribution 2) Minor "bug"?

1) FWIW, I've modified Galapo's "small set of extra customizations" to add a few "tweaks" for my own use as follows:
- Show File Attributes Column in Explorer
- Show Date/Time in ISO International Format (yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm)
- Install "Properties Plus" Extension (for setting file dates & attributes)

A zipped copy of the modified script is attached for Galapo's future consideration and/or for anyone who might find it useful.

2) No matter what I've tried, RegAddBoot refuses to properly implement numerically identified default icons such as
RegAddBoot,HKLM,0x1,SOFTWARE\Classes\7-Zip.gzip\DefaultIcon,,%PE_Programs%\%ProgramFolder%\7Z.dll#$c14
It shows up correctly in the build's ExpEnvVar.txt file as
Boot|HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\7-Zip.gzip\DefaultIcon||0x1|%SystemDrive%\Programs\7-Zip\7Z.dll,14
However, the final ",14" always gets dropped when the build is actually booted. Perhaps it's a WinBuilder issue, but it seems to work okay with my VistaPE builds.

Attached File  LiveXP_tweaks.zip   656.15KB   490 downloads (modified as noted above)

Upfront: thanks Lancelot - my first easy build running XP from a CD... not bad for a total newbie.

I've been a lurker around these forums for quite a while and every now and then grabbed WinBuilder and gave the latest scripts a shot, but this was the first time I went from nothing installed to happy camper without any pain at all.

It really was this simple:
1. Grabbed livexp from the winbuilder site and unpacked it to c:\winbuilder\
2. Launched c:\winbuilder\winbuilder.exe and clicked Play at the top right
3. Copied a WindowsXP CD image to a local folder, selected the folder in WinBuilder and the rest happened without me doing a thing.

I realise this is the culmination of a lot of people's effort in many areas, so this is a collective toast to everyone involved for achieving such an easy implementation for the user, despite the huge complexities involved behind the scenes.

PS: Simple grammar correction for the selection of install CD; the text "Whenever possible - copy all files from this Install CD to a folder on disk and use it on order to make the project build faster" would read better as: "Whenever possible copy the contents of your install CD to a local folder on your computer – this way the build process will run much faster."

@all

I feel this topic became an introduction to some new users. I added "Project Info" to the end of post #1 to clear that I am only "The Turtle" of the project. :)

Hi _dexter_,

I just tested with xpsp3enu source and no error here. Please click "Clean Temporary Files" button on main screen and try again.
If still fails, please open a topic here with giving details, this would hopefully result with more help to you.

Hi Arvy,

Yep I tried many things too, it is a smallllish bugy of (I guess) ExpEnvVar, currently this does not effect Livexp build but requires to be fixed to have better interproject scripts :). I am sure it will be fixed quickly after Galapo come from holiday, thanks a lot :)

Your minor contributions added to project now :) In additon to our new Properties Plus script :) I feel you will like new Hashtab and FindTarget scripts too. :drunk:
