So im trying to install windows xp onto my msi wind.
Previously I just put my xp cd into my combo drive, then plugged that into the laptop with an usb adapter I have, then just installed it from the cd, but ive broken my xp cd now.
Luckily i have my original windows xp files copied onto my hard disk from trying to make a windows xp boot flash drive a year and some ago.
I've done a LOT of searching over guides on how to make a windows xp usb installer, and non of them are working for me, including wintoflash, most of the stuff i find is a guide on USB_Multiboot.
I seem to be having a lot of issues with USB_Multiboot though... instead of the screen telling about multiboot and the warning, which then says "press any key to continue", i get
find: 6.0.: No such file or directory

FIND: Windows NT: No such file or directory

FIND: invalid predicate `'

Press any key to continue . . .

I can format with peTOusb fine, then when i select my windows xp source files i get an error saying
****** Error: Selected Path does Contain Spaces and is Invalid *****

Solution : Rename Folder or Change to Path without Spaces

but i dont know what path/folder its taking about it...
my xp source files are in a folder on my D: drive called "XPSOURCE".

im on vista 64-bit, and i do have UAC disabled.

First error seems like some files are missing.

Building on Vista 64 may be part o the problem.

Are the files in D:\XPSOURCE or in D:\XPSOURCE\I386\ ?

Try running the "other" utility:

and post it's log, it may give more details.

XPSOURCE contains all the files copied straight from the disk.
i386 is inside XPSOURCE, i choose i386 instead of XPSOURCE and it seems to have worked. i cant believe i forgot to try that.

now when i choose my flash drive after being formatted with peToUsb its saying that its not FAT, FAT32, or NTFS....

How big is the stick, if over 2 Gb, don't use PeToUsb.

Use RMPREPUSB:

Start from scratch:

Remember to remove-reinsert USB stick after each change to the MBR/partitioning/formatting attempt

It seems to me like you are into a "make a USB XP install frenzy" (quite common BTW ).

DON'T PANIC
(assume the above to be written in large, friendly letters)

Take your time do one thing at the time jolt down the steps (the succesfull ones), try again.

Start from scratch.

or, as already said, try using the other GUI method that might be a little "friendlier" with new users:
