I've just tried to boot from a 4GB Kingston pen drive on 3 different machines and I can't get either one to load Ubuntu 9.04.
1 PC gave me a "remove the media and reboot" message, the other 2 PCs a blank black page with a blinking cursor on the top left corner of the screen.
The drive is a FAT32 partition, I'm using the ISO I downloaded diretcly from the official site.
Yes, the drive is bootable!
Help?

Yes, the drive is bootable!
NO, it is not :

The "remove the media and reboot" AND the blinking cursor is typical of a "wrongly" partitioned/formatted disk/device.
Try re-formatting it with RMPrepUSB or fbinst, and try running UNETBOOTIN again.

Thanks for the tip.
Do you know how to format it properly? I've tried some combinations but the result is just about the same.
Cheers!

RMprepUSB and fbinst should both produce a "universal" booting stick.
Thanks for the tip.

I would say forget (for the moment) about Unetbootin and Ubuntu and just try running RMPprepusb and test that the stick actually boots.
Simply install grub4dos in any of the available ways:
http://diddy.boot-la...les/install.htm
And try booting.
You should NOT get the blinking cursor or the "remove media".
IF you still cannot get to a grub4dos command line, get HDhacker:
http://dimio.altervi.../eng/index.html
and extract from the non-bootable stick BOTH MBR and bootesector (first sector of Physical Drive and first sector of Logical drive are enough).
Compress them together in a .zip or .7z file and attache the archive to your next post.
I'll have a look at them and maybe will be able to help you specifically.
