Hm, I download Bootice 1.03 from SnapFiles http://www.snapfiles...et/bootice.html - seems the same file, like on Softpedia.

Maybe the website-auto-translation-function changes the ipauly MD5 too?

May I ask WHY one would want to rename GRLDR to a 8.3 name?

I mean, the GRLDR was chosen but the grub4dos developers to be able to "fit it" (if needed) in the space NTLDR took on the "standard" 2K/XP bootsector, and I am failing to see an "advantage" in renaming it to 8.3. :dubbio:

Hi Wonko,

It's not something important but read the story:

Some years ago i made i flash drive grub4dos-bootable to load some .iso images (WinPE, Partition Wizard).

I shared it with friends who know little about grub and two of them delete file GRLDR as unknown or malware! :dubbio:

Then i renamed GRLDR to a more obvious name "GRUB4DOS.LDR" using BootIce and no-one delete it again. :yahoo:

Regards

I see :).
I thought you had the "strange" issue detailed in grub4dos read_me.txt:

Notice: People has reported that some version of Vista doesn't support
creating file in C:\ with no extension, even with administrator privileges.
This means grldr can't be placed in C:\. You can solve this by either copy
grldr to another partition, or rename grldr to something like grub.bin. Please
see the following section on how to do this.

for which I don't recall having seen any confirmation here on the Forum.

Wonko

Test BOOTICE v1.0.6

writing a grub4dos v0.4.5c mbr to a (partitioned) FAT32 USB-Stick with: BOOTICE.exe /device=e: /mbr /install /type=grub4dos /v045

-> with or without the parameter /v045, a empty error-message pops up:

30to4g1.jpg

clicking 'OK' i get:

35cosnb.jpg

with BOOTICE v1.0.4 and v1.0.5 there is no such a error-message (same USB-Stick)

Fixed the "RegOpenKeyEx failed" bug when editing BCD;

This was the most annoying problem causing the BCEDIT function of bootice useless. I am glad that it is now fixed.

Thank you to bootice's author Pauly.
