Hello everyone... from a complete beginner

I am a complete beginner in this area, i have just created a windows vista recovery options cd, and i asked someone for advice on where do i go now, and they had pointed me in this direction.

So i really do not know anything is this area, but thought i could learn.

I am using windows vista home premium sp2, 32 bit.
And what i have done so far is created a vista recovery options cd, but want to progress from this, but have no idea what to do next.

So any advice at my level, or where to even begin will be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou all

So you want to create a vista pe rescue cd? If thats the case then here is a good place to start:

http://www.vistape.net/vistape.html

That gives much background information about vista pe. However Nightman's version of vista pe has been superceded with this version:

Much more information about what you are trying to achieve is needed before people can help you.

Hello paraglider.

What i am trying to achive..."good question"
But for now, can i possibly try to achieve to create a Vista PE rescue cd.

Even if its just to gain some knowledge.

How i came about all this is explained in the link jaclaz posted above.

So creating a Vista PE rescue cd, might not be of any use to me just yet, as i probably will not know how to use it, but a least i will have gained some knowledge of the whole thing.

So breifly, i do not have any installation discs, My operating system was pre-installed so i have a recovery partition.
So i take it the first thing to do is download "WAIK" as the first step and go on from there.

Is there is any other information which i should be aware of/or any other information which i can provide.... :frusty:

Yes, DON'T DO IT!

Maybe you are a bit over-cautious...:frusty:

Seriously, you should follow the already given advice of setting up a Virtual Machine, it is faster (not actually "faster", but faster practically) and safer.

Not sure what all that means in the first link jaclaz "Absolutley no idea" :frusty:

So its a change of plan then, you think its best to use the virtual machine, or to learn how that works first...... http://www.virtualbox.org/
Best not to rush into these sort of things anyway.

You say the virtual machine is not that hard to understand, i hope so at my level of knowledge.

I will go and find out a bit more about it.
