Does anyone know of a usable commandline calculator?
I just need a little one, which does floating point and the basic operations, because WB does, just like batch, only integer.

Tested already a bunch.
Eighter they didn't work at all, or they were complete overkill with graph plotting and stuff.

And of course you are not going to tell us which, and you expect that we start the usual:

What about this one:

in order to reply:

No, I already tried that but I don't like it because of this and this...

First, and only suggestion from me:

Sorry, didn't knew you needed the names.
They were calc.exe, calc.exe, calc2.exe and calc.exe.

jaclaz from the 3 links only one was still working and it gave me a calc.exe.
Who would have guessed?!

Works fine. :whistling:
Would have never guessed, that it can be so complicated to find a working piece of software.

For fp.exe:

http://www.kohnos.net/files/wincli.zip

For eval.zip , the link should be working, I guess it's a temporary problem with the WayBack Machine.

This one is working for me right now:
http://web.archive.o.../files/eval.zip

Too bad you didn't try calc1.exe, it's a nice piece of software. :whistling:

It's latest version, calc286.exe is really nifty.

Of course a "real" programmer would NOT use a calcn.exe, but rather a calcn.COM (1024 bytes in size) calculator, like calc387.com:
http://www.geocities.com/craig_hessel/
http://www.geocities...sel/calc387.zip

I hope you have a 387 CPU Math Coprocessor or a 486+ ?

Sure. life is tough.... :)
TANSTAAFL! :)

If there are integer input arguments, and the result is an (maybe rounded or truncated) integer, I'm willing to write a small app to do so.

It will be a birthday present for you (when?)

Thanks for the offer Peter, but truncated integer, from the WB internal functions, is what this quest started in the first place.

just a note,
at least xp64 dont like .com files (ex: CALC387.COM)

a typical error message comes when one tries to use a .com file with 2k3/xp64

The program or feature "\??\D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\calc387\CALC387.COM" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

I would guess that hardware running x64 also have enough storage to store a BLOATED app like eval (25,088 bytes). :whistling:
