Very good, excellent work.

Only one detail - you can replace the HP tool with the RMprepUSB tool: http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=7739

How about adding support to replace the windows PE that is available on the Windows 7 install DVD and replace with your project?

This way we'd get both a rescue and install platform in one media.

Yes, that's not optimal! :whistling:
You can change the background picture under: Tweaks/Wallpaper
or wait for next version, with better BSExplorer support.

Nice work, Joshua!

I completed a boot disk following the detailed tutorial and have yet to test it.

I have a few remarks as a complete WinBuilder newbie:

1/ To download the project bootstrapper:

Since Win7RescuePE is a new project, you must add the download server to WinBuilder. You can do that by selecting a available project, and then pressing the Add a new web server button. Name of new web server is: joshua.winbuilder.net/Projects

Actually, it is more that merely selecting a project, you have to check ("tick") for the greyed-out button to become active.
I was at a lost, since I couldn't see anything change when clicking on the row items.

2/ In step 6:

Plug in the UFD (if not already plugged in) and determine its Windows drive letter. At the bottom of the screen above, use the browse button to select the root directory of the UFD (the example above has it set to G:\).

To go ahead and create the UFD, select the "Make USB boot device" item. After a short time, you will be prompted to format the USB drive.

OK, I selected the drive using the browse for folder button, but nothing happened afterwards.
As a workaround I right-clicked to launch the script in the left pane. Maybe I'm just dumb, but is there a more obvious choice for launching the script ?

3/ When preparing a UFD:
The Grub4Dos is quickly overviewed, beware of mistakes at this point however ? (Is it destructive?)
The dialog screenshot shows "(hd1) (3929M)" in the combobox. This may confuse people
a) into always choosing (hd1) whatever comp specs they have
b) because 3929 != 1968 (G:, in your example)

4/ minor nitpicks:
a) s/Vista/Windows7/
b) were there 8 steps originally?

Thanks again
RT

Fisr I have been struggling with VistaPE and LiveXp for some time not recognizing my drives attached to my intel controler. I decided to give this a try and to my amazement I can see all my drives. Great job !!!!!!! I look forward to new features as well as applications. I am going to try to move some of my apps from Vistape to the build to see what success I have. Great job again !!!!!! Can you provide any updates as to what new features we may be seeing in future builds?

Hello Joshua,

I have tested your "Win7RescuePE" with a Desktop (ASUS P5B-VM MotherCard) and a NetBook "Packard Bell". I'm very glad !!!

1) From CD-RW ==> It work like a Charm
2) From USB Key ==> I have a "Blue Screen" !!! I have tested this with a "Verbatim Store 'n' Go 4 Go"

I use in Input the "Windows 7 RC1 French" From Microsoft (Free for Test) and from other "Windows 7", and I have the same Problems.

Have you an Idea ?

Thanks in Advance for your Help.

This is a problem, you have to ask here for support: http://www.boot-land...mp;hl=penetwork

Use englisch language file to solve this!

I spoke too soon.I added some apps now I dont see my drives again. I guess there is a possibility that one of my apps, maybe acronis disk director is causing an issue with my drives not being visible? I am going to try a rebuild and no apps to see if my drives are visible. If I see them then I will start adding apps back in.

That is definitely possible!
Add always only one app and test!
Please give feedback what app causes this! (with download link) and build log!
