do you have looked into the log-file?

This log is probably not suited to be posted in the forum for support questions.
To decrease build time, a couple of internal tests are switched off and not shown in the log.
That might make it impossible to find the real background of actual issues.
To produce a 'qualified' log for support questions, please check 'Tools >> Options >> Debug log'.

so please do so and make another built and therefore a new log-file

ok, understood.

But IMHO there is a different reason, not space in the path.
The space has been an issue long time ago. And it should be fixed since about 072.

Great for you, but as WB developer I now have some troubles / questions / doubts:

My build folder is: "V:\wb\wb debug" and it works fine in all cases.

What's the difference? :)

If the space under some conditions really causes troubles, I have to fix that.
Are you willing to help me?
Maybe we need a lot of tests. But that should PMed.

What's the difference? :)

First i would compare the two debug logs.
And i also would made a test with spaces on a a second system, because i have the feeling,
that often the WAIK is the problem! :)

Hello Joshua,

the black screen issue is also in your project ?? :)

This problem is a path depended issue. :) See also YahooUK's project .... There are many posts about this problem.

My build folder is now "C:\wb078\", because "C:\users\...." doesn't work.

Could you try a little version of this project in your User-folder, because I think, the issue is made by the translation of this folder .... :) "C:\USERS\.." is in german "C:\BENUTZER\.."

The difference is incredible (or :) )

For 95% are not the project's scripts but WinBuilder responsible.

Please give me some time for tests.

I think your system runs with a german localized version of XP or Vista or 7, doesn't it ?? Then your Userfile-Folder should be "C:\BENUTZER\".

If you now use an english source of Win7 the path could be set as "C:\USERS\.."

See picture ...

So please look for your folder.

@ctv99

Can you please give some info about your drives C: and E:
  • Formatted with FAT / NTFS
  • NTFS Compressed (here could be interesting whether in an uncompressed drive %BaseDir% is compressed)
Thanks

This has nothing to do with english source!
Foldername is always
C:\User
German windows shows only
C:\Benutzer

same for
C:\Program Files
German windows shows
C:\Programme

You can easily test this by going to a cmd prompt on c:\ and then call dir :)

But it could be, that this translation is a problem???
I will make some tests this weekend. :)

That's what I love with Billy the Door.

"I decide what the user needs and what the user wants to see"
"I know better than the user what the user wants"

If with a hex editor you look at the HDD: The folder is named "User".
Billy: "But I'm helpful and lie a bit when showing the folder name ..."

Great? In my eyes Bulls???
