Dear Sirs
I have created a Netprotector Antivirus rescue boot-disk.
The Netprotecor says Windows will run in Native mode while booting from the rescue disk
Its windows xp sp3 base as it creates rescue disk from windows xp source files. When I extracted the boot sector of the disk it reads "NATIVE CDFS GENERATOR.img". When I try to put this cd's image file NP.ISO into USB using grub4dos and menu list like...
find --set-root --ignore-floppies /iso/NP.iso
map /iso/NP.iso (0xFF)
map --hook
chainloader (0xFF)

Its not working. It halts with blue screen.

Hence I extracted the rescue disk on the USB and tried to run the "setupldr.bin"
There are no files on the root of the cd.
(All the files are in i386 folder. The boot loader runs "Setupldr.bin" from this folder.)
I used the following menu list but its not working...
title qh
find --set-root /i386/SETUPLDR.BIN
chainloader /i386/SETUPLDR.BIN
rootnoverify
boot

Please guide me in how to put this cd into USB.
I tried --mem command also but it Hangs.
I have 2GB Ram with C2D.

im stuck in another issue on live xp . but i ll download that netprotector thing and see if it can be called fully from ram .,

edit : what was the error code of that blue screen when u tried 0xff ?

Unfortunately ;) the trophy has just been awarded:
http://www.boot-land...?...ic=8721&hl=
:frusty:

More seriously, it won't work as (hd32) or (0xFF) unless it's a RAMDISK build.

It should work with files extracted to root of USB and \minint, see here:
http://www.boot-land...?...7739&st=154

It is possible (typical if it's a DELL) that you need a modified NTDETECT.COM, read FAQ #3 here:
http://www.msfn.org/...howtopic=116766
and given links in it.

@Jaclaz
Thanks for your prompt response.
I think the "information" on this topic/problem is much scattered in this forum. Hence finding it difficult to search or understand.
I will let you know after I give it a try
Thanks

@Jaclaz
I was trying to boot usb by extracting the files of the .iso / original boot cd to usb drive. (As I said earlier The original rescue disk CD boots fine. There are no files on the root of the the except win51??? size zero files)

I followed these steps
1. Format UFD with RMPrepUSB
2. Copy setupldr.bin from \i386 to the root of the UFD as ntldr.
3. Copy the custom ntdetect.com described inthe links provided by you to the root of the UFD.
4. Copy the target files and folders, renaming \i386 to \minint.
Now its not going upto BSOD. Before that getting error.
I tried foramatting with FAT16/FAT32/NTFS.
ERRORS: with ntfs:txtsetup.sif missing error code 14
with fat: file\$WIN_NTS."BT\biosinfo.inf couldn't find error code 18.

Please guide.
My other observations are...
I was creating a livexp-usb using "pe2usb" then
1) When I gave source path of original xpsp2 i got the error code \$WIN_NTS."BT\biosinfo.inf
2) When I gave souce path of a already created xplive I got the erro BSOD.
Even copying modded ntdetect.com didn't solve the problem

Usually an error saying "missing txtsetup.sif" does mean that txtsetup.sif cannot be found. :whistling:

Try putting a copy of txtsetup.sif in root of the stick.

You should get familiar with the "queer" ways Windows Setup (and PE's) boot, and with the differences when booting on different media (CD vs. HD vs USB stick HD like vs. floppy/superfloppy).

Take your time reading this seemingly unrelated thread:
http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=5316
it does contain a lot of info on the booting process and which files are needed where.

:cheers:

No Sir...It did not work.
I will try another way through the links you provided and let you know if I succeed.
But if you see WAREZ you can put it in any usb stick. What method has he used? I tried to contact him and asked but he is not guiding.

Bolded part above is my edit.

Half to three quarters of the world have managed to boot from USB, by reading, learning and using legally available software, no need to use WAREZ.

Simply read, learn, experiment.

Sorry jaclaz for discussing WAREZ
OK. Now my new finding is:
If I use Sandisk 2GB MMC/SD Card,the BartpE windows live boots perfectly (created by pE2usb). But it doesn't boot (even after following the exactly same procedure) with Kingstone 2GB Pen Drive.

@apple999
For the record and for your knowledge, very few things manage to make me ;) as much as someone who writes "doesn't boot", there can be several reasons why a stick does not boot, and most of them cause "something" that can be DESCRIBED, like (examples):
  • a completely blank screen
  • a flashing cursor in top left of the screen
  • a j in top left of the screen
  • something quickly flashing
  • an error message (white text on black background
  • a BSOD (white text on blue background)

Would you go to the doctor and tell him:

I have a pain somewhere, what can it be?

? ;)

@maanu
Would the doctor then say, without knowing what the problem is:

Sure, take these broad spectrum antibiotics, one pill every eight hours.

? ;)

;)

@apple9999

Please take note that "LiveXP" is the (extremely INACCURATE) name of a winbuilder project, if you use Bart's PEBuilder what you have as output is a BartPE build, but you started about a "Net Protector" something. :whistling:

Also, before you reported using RMprepusb, now pe2usb. :cheers:

There are two similarly named programs:
pe2usb, which is a script included in bartPE, and petousb, which is a program.

The pe2usb (script within BartPE) has been reported often to create problems, though the reported problems are NOT usually connected with BSOD 0x0000007b.

A 0x0000007b comes normally with a "inaccessible boot device" text message.

Are you positive you partitioned/formatted the Kingston USB stick properly?
The message may come from attempting booting a stick partitioned as superfloppy on a motherboard that "accepts as AUTO" this kind of media.

Can you get this app:
HDHACKER
http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/
backup MBR (first sector of Physicaldrive corresponding to your USB stick)
backup bootsector( first sector of LogicalDrive corresponding to first partition on your USB stick)
compress the two files together and post the resaulting archive as attachment?

And how is/was the MMC/sd card connected to the PC?

Also are you trying both builds on the same computer?

@maanu
why don't you go all the way and suggest to use Linux or Solaris instead?

The problem at hand is WHY same build works with one media and not with another. Not about different ways to create a PE (like RAMDISK builds).

But it is easy to confuse a new member, and expecially one that has not been able till now to post a simple, exact report of what he did, by opening before him multiple choices.
