Well ive given up. Im handing this over to you JFX. You obviously have a much better idea of what you are doing than me.

I jumped in at the deepend with this being new to WinPE/Winbuilder and my goal was unrealistic being a newbie. You seem to have achieved alot in the last 24 hours.

I wish you all the best with getting the script working as sk jukebox is a great app and would be great as a bootable version. SK Jukebox would be a great addition to NaughtyPE and with the direct x script and wmp included I think this little side project makes a welcome addition to NaughtyPE.

I look forward to seeing you post the project up you deserve full credit for it as you are the one who is making it happen. Once it is available ill be formatting the hard drive on my jukebox popping the dvd in and transferring my mp3s to the hard drive. A pretty much effortless way to turn an old pc into a jukebox.

Thanks for all your help with this JFX its much appreciated!

Regards

The Doc

Oh just saw there is no DIPE, no xpe Directx in NaughtyPE :whistling: I really hope the author of this Project will add this essential stuff

SK Jukebox is now running nice on my LiveXP builds.

Biggest problem still is me against winbuilder.

It will take a while but SK Jukebox will become avalible on all WinPE 1.x builds :)

No idea what DIPE is, but the DirectX script was left out on purpose.
It has a huge impact on PE sizewise and without a display driver supporting DirectX acceleration, it's pointless anyway.

But it's no problem to add it to NaughtyPE, it's fully compatible with it.

Ahh yes, now that you write it out, i know what you mean.
It requires a writable systemdrive to work and is therefore not in NaughtyPE.

Bootsdi and fbwf option are in NaughtyPE.

When i started NaughtyPE, i've layed down some rules for it.
a.) it's not suppose to be another minimalist PE, a la barebone
b.) it's not suppose to be another rescue PE, a la LiveXP (at least at the time)
c.) it's suppose to be a portable emergency OS with as much functionalty as possible, in as little space as possible, needing as little system resources as possible.

To comply with the rule about system resources, NaughtyPE has to be able to run directly from CD.
To be really portable it has to fit on a miniCD.

From the rule, i have made only one exception. I included a video player with an easy to use gui, requiring min. RAM of 256 MB. instead of a console based one, working already in 64MB.

with all due respect , what is the point of having these 2 tools , if u dont wanna use them ?

since the goal of naughty is a multimedia pe ,why not have dipe there to install sound and hardware drivers after booting into pe ? so that users can enjoy this emergency pe ?

also i have got a chinese directx9 package which can be used after booting into pe. coz i have seen that on my system without directx9 video players did not work on my pe.even though i had vga driver installed.

just a suggestion...

They are there for users, who might want to use them. Would you prefer, if i remove them?

When you put drivers in your PE, why not doing it right and putting them where they belong, right at buid time?

What should i say about that? Your PE sucks. :whistling:
NaughtyPE plays videos without the need for 30MB of DirectX crap and does so for 1,5 years, long before LiveXP had even sound.

i'd still prefer them , i ll add them back if i ll use naughty pe

i do not put drivers in pe except the mass storage pack .for everything else related to drivers i use dipe.

hehe . well i know u'r far elder then me . so i must keep quite .

and i dont have 30 MB of directX crap . it is about 11 MB . and is useable after booting into pe.

i ll build the default pe with naughty , and see if it likes my hardware or not.
i ll add drivers first . i remember u had some settings in a script where user had option to put drivers in a folder , and infcache build did the job after then . it was probably mid of 2008 when i came across bootland ,and used naughty pe .

ewf, fbwf, ramboot, wimboot ....
Isn't it interesting to what lenghts people go to, to avoid to have to work exact? :whistling:

All those 'enhanced' methodes serve only one purpose. To be able to make use of the 'selfhealing' abilities of XP.
So that XP fixes the screwed up installations/configurations of the added Apps, while on a ISO everything has to be spot on or it won't work.

;)

As the starter of this thread I feel its going a little off topic and that its deviating from its original purpose. Instead of people argueing over the best way to do this why does everyone have a go at doing it their way then everyone can make their minds up for themselves?

In my opinion the first person to get SK Jukebox up and running correctly is correct in the matter.

The discussion has gone off topic, as you've noticed. Which means we're not discussing SK Jukebox at all.

Still only you and JFX work on it. Or just JFX, if i understood your last posts correctly.

Just to get sure is it mandatory to be a script for NaughtyPE or could it be one for LiveXP.

Naughty seems to have some problem with ActiveX.

Ideally for NaughtyPE (Multimedia environment) but I suppose if its gonna make it work why not do it for LiveXP?
