I was able to create a VistaPE CD using WinBuilder 0.76 + VistaPE v.12 (RC1a). However, when I use this CD to boot my computer, I get the following error message that appears after the bar above "Windows is loading files" is complete:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc …"

What could be the problem and how can I fix this?

Thanks for your offer to help, Jon. However, I have already been able to fix the problem. It's really strange but obviously the problem was that I had saved WinBuilder and the ISO image that was created on a FAT32 drive. Even though FAT32 allows file sizes up to 4 GB, some other difference between the two file systems must have caused the problem because after transferring everything to an NTFS drive and creating the ISO image there, the VistaPE CD booted correctly.

One thing I noticed however was that loading the drivers took very long, around 5 more minutes after the Windows desktop had appeared. But I suppose this is normal.

yeah. I've been there. you need to build vistape from a NTFS formatted partition.
