I've tried to send the newsletter for this week using a custom written php script instead of the internal forum software.
Seemed like a pretty straight forward task and my testings during the weekend have worked well, but thanks to your feedback I can see something is still missing to correct.
On my mailbox I didn't received any message at all.
Received a lot of auto-replies as usual from some users and read the attached message so it seemed well, wonder what could have gone wrong.
Will see if it can be corrected and move back into the old method until I get this working as expected.
------------------------------------------------
Has everyone received the message encoded instead of plain html as previous ones?
Thank you!

So, it works in some cases and doesn't work in others.
---------
Do you mind if I invite you all to further debug this matter?
This should help understand what might be necessary to fix this bug.
-----
Some additional information is needed to draw some valid conclusions, please mention what email client that you're using (outlook, hotmail, gmail, etc).
Thank you!

Can someone suggest a free email service where I can register a test account to test this odd email behavior?

I think I found what happens:
The NEWS mails do not have the header tag 'Content-type'.
And Firefox does not try to solve that, whil other clients do so.

I've permanently disabled all automated email features until it is working good.

No sorry!Sorry about this last email.
It helped to find that the Content-type tag is missing

Result: Garbage replaced by a readable page
What to do:
@Nuno, just move the 'Content-type' line from text to header.
