Please share your working menu.lst that you used for USB, all I've gotten was a reboot after Kon-Boot runs.

reboot ?

it gotta reboot to boot from OS when u first time press ENTER .

anyways here is the working configs for both usb and cd .

usb

title KON

map --mem /BOOT/KON.img (fd0)

map --hook

chainloader (fd0)+1

rootnoverify (fd0)

here is for cd (which at least worked for me in virtual pc )

title kon -boot

find --set-root /GRLDR

kernel /0/MEMDISK

initrd /KON.IMG

Kon-Boot "reboots" because it boots the first hard drive it finds (which is your usb key).
I have found the following menu entries to be useful when using kon-boot from USB key:

title KONBOOT Local Hard Drive

map (hd0) (hd1)

map (hd1) (hd0)

map --mem /images/konboot.img (fd0)

map --hook

chainloader (fd0)+1

rootnoverify (fd0)

title KONBOOT USB Drive Menu

map --mem /images/konboot.img (fd0)

map --hook

chainloader (fd0)+1

rootnoverify (fd0)

The second option without the map statement will reboot after kon-boot to the USB menu because kon-boot boots the first hard drive.
The first option will boot to the "real" first hard drive (the system's drive) because the map statement swaps hd0 (USB) with hd1 (Internal drive).

Well... this isn't exactly "solved"... as there's no usable solution here. Looking for a solution of booting from CD, not USB (note the title says "CD").

I'm looking for a solution to this as well. Kon-Boot seems to have about a 25% success rate in even starting up, getting to the graphical Kryptos Logic logo. Otherwise it just hangs the system at a black screen (no flashing cursor, no reboot, no nothing). That's where I'm stuck now. I put the floppy version into a BCDW script and it does all of nothing. I can pretty easily chain-load Grub4Dos via BCDW (which my uber-boot-CD is currently based on), but I'd like to first know, uh, if it works at all...

Is Kon-Boot working at all for anyone booted from a multi-CD? It'd be such a valuable tool to add to my CD if anyone could say it actually works...

it works on cd and usb using grub4dos . at least thats what i have tested and gave it to a lot of my friends , and NONE of them complained about it yet .

from usb , load it using the following ,

map --mem /KON.img (fd0)

map --hook

chainloader (fd0)+1

rootnoverify (fd0)

from cd ,

title kon -boot

find --set-root /GRLDR

kernel /0/MEMDISK

initrd /KON.IMG

Hm, I'll have to give that a try, I've got 200mb free space on my CD, plenty enough to rig Grub4Dos in there (or rather, to learn how to load G4D from BCDW... lol). But in the meanwhile, it's worth asking, has anyone gotten it to work in BCDW?

I'll post back with status in the next day or so... work/school affords me little at-home time, but I have plenty of free time along the way :P

Hi my code for Kon-boot both usb and cd is

title Kon-Boot\n Windows (any/blank password) and Linux (kon-usr) Login Without a Password
map --mem /konboot-1.1.img.gz (fd0)
map --hook
chainloader (fd0)+1
map (hd1) (hd0) || map (hd0) (hd0)
map --hook
rootnoverify (fd0)

====================== However

My code does not work in situation where the laptop put
the os in (hd0,1) with the recovery partition in (hd0,0).

I there a way to code it have konboot boot first on
(hd0,1) and if there is no os boot (hd0,0)

Please advice and thank you.
