Hello,

I want to know if someone could help me about this "setup" :

Instead of having app scripts compiled with VistaPE, i prefer to do the following :

VistaPE + Portable Apps : the whole package on a USB Key.

My question : is there a way to setup the following :

Have a portable version of "Paraglider's Runscanner" in order to launch portable apps (ccleaner, malwarebytes, superantispyware, hijackthis, etc..) present on a usb key ?

And what would be the syntax to make the elements interact ?

Thank you very much,

Sincerely,

Somehow seems to be a pointless question.
Runscanner is needed if the application runs on a different system than the one which should get checked.
If you use portable applications, they are already running on the right machine. So no need for runscanner.

if Portable Apps you use have the hostos requirements (at your case vistape) than your portable apps would work the way you like :)
There are lots of portable apps around to try, also some are wimpacked (.wim) to gain lots of valuable space, ex: vmware portable, .net framework portable
and most other applications are naturally portable :)

Runscanner redirects the registry from PE to your normal OS. With a portable app you are trying to run an app without modifying or requiring any preconfigured registry settings. These are two very different requirements.

Well, thanks to all of you, for your answers....

Perhaps my question seemed strange, but here go the real reason about my post :

Since a week, i have built so many times VistaPE without the real success i was waiting for...

I always use a usb toolkit i made myself : a pstart menu with a lot of portable antivirus/antispyware apps.

But when having problems booting to windows (or booting with failures), it seems VistaPE is the solution...

As i said, i don't manage to build a VistaPE config equivalent to my usb toolkit (many problems having antivirus working perfectly in VistaPE (some posts talk about it in this forum) + wanting to keep programs updated (trying to play with runfromram option to keep programs running from usb instead .wim) + etc....)...

So, i came to wishing the following :

A light VistaPE without any addon, from where i would use my usb toolkit... and i realized that i'd have registry redirection problems...

Thank you all, i will continue my VistaPE builds :)

Despite what you might think, portable apps are a way worst solution for a PE, than using the non portable couterparts.
And if you have already problems with building a 'normal' PE, i would guess your choosen solution will be impossible for you to realize.

My advice, learn how to walk before trying to run.

pe2.winbuilder.net/pePA.com is a project by allanf.

It currently only contains some lines to honour (or aggress?) me:

That is the result of the fact that the author of this project was not willing to accept some (agreed: major) bug fixes in WinBuilder and tries to tell his emotions in this way to the outer world, rather than to discuss.

Compare NaughtyPE: We are still fighting against some unwanted reality, and I understand your angryness ...

But as you tell your troubles, we'll surelly find a solution ...

Peter :)

Wow... i'm happy to read that... indeed i was relieved when i discovered the pePA.com project : i estimated that someone had the same "vision" than me..

And i consider his method (project instead of discussion) very nice :) ...

At least, i'm relieved that other people think as me...

Hi XZed,

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for but have a look here under 'Adding Portable Apps...' to see what's possible in LiveXP; maybe it could be adapted to VPE?? I've given up on VPE for now but at some point I'm sure I'll look again... anyway, good luck to you, I too share your 'vision' and preference for portable apps in PE :)
