Nice representation ^_^, much better than the one you posted on MSFN:
http://www.msfn.org/...howtopic=131802

The problem is to understand what's inside the .SWM files and if the .SWM files are part of one (or more) bigger .WIM's.

See if using either this method:
http://www.msfn.org/...showtopic=89955

Or trying opening the .SWM files with 7-zip, versions later than 4.59:
http://encode.ru/for...hread.php?t=146
should support all kinds of .WIM compression

you can understand what's inside each.

Also, can you do a DIR D: /S >C:\D2DDIR.TXT (provided that the hidden partitionis mounted as D:\ ) and post the resulting file as an attachment, maybe form the sizes of the files one coulf get some hints...:good:

I open swi WITH 7zip because imagex doesn't work.

the imagex in \D2D\PATCH\TOOLS\ must work, maybe you have to add some .dll, try tracing that imagex.exe with Dependency Walker....

There are several versions of imagex around, and it is possible that 7-zip is compatible with the "main" (Vista) one, while the one you have is probably one form loghorn or possibly even the gimage which is used for Winflp.

See if anything here:
http://www.msfn.org/...es-t109293.html
can be of help (though related to the "Vista" version)

P.S.:
Found this:
http://free-chrome.net/blog/?p=175

should be EXACTLY what you are after...:good:

WHY you used that syntax? :good:

The referenced blog reported:
imagex /ref *.swm /export POP01021P2EN3C21.SWM 1 d:\acer.wim "aspire"

You should probably try:
imagex /ref *.swm /export POP0103WP2FR0C01.SWM 1 C:\Acer\iso\D2D\Images\install.wim "aspire"

End of ideas on my side. :good:

Semi-random ideas/doubts:

Did the install.wim got created?

How long did it take to run?

Were you on the C:\Acer\iso\D2D\Images\ directory in command console?

Have you tried using a different target path?

Do you have enough space on the drive?

The file reported on the blog:
POP01021P2EN3C21.SWM
as compared to your one:
POP0103WP2FR0C01.SWM

Possibly:
POP01 <-standard prefix
02P2/03WP2 <- Release
EN/FR <- Language
3C21/0C01<- SWM image number

Maybe you should try with another "starting" SWM? but which one? ^_^

Could it be that during the copy a file has been corrupted?

Can you run a MD5 check on file in the hidden partition and those copied to the USB device?

Another semi-random idea, does target needs to be named "acer.wim" :good:

You're right.

During the copy, files have been corrupted.

This morning, I worked directly on acer aspire one and I managed to create the file install.wmi.

INSTALL.WMI = 4.34 GO

What do I do next ?

Thanks you very muche for your help and your explanations.

Now that you have hopefully a "full" install.wim, it might be useful to list it's contents, and see what the heck is in it.

Most probably it's an image of a pre-set partition.

There might (or might not ^_^) be in it a \I386 directory containing actually "source install" files.

This thread, though seemingly unrelated (AND links within it) should get you started with the "detective" work:

I know this is an old post but I came across it in trying to do the same today.

This is what worked successfully for me!

1. Create a bootable USB disk2. Show your PQSERVICE partition in windows

Open a command window as administrator and type the following;
  • diskpart
  • rescan
  • select disk 0 (assuming PQSERVICE is on the first HDD)
  • list partition (to find out which partition is PQSERVICE on)
  • select partition 1 (If that is your hidden partition)
  • detail partition (take a note of the partition type it should be 27 or 12)
  • set id=07 override (assuming your partition type was 27, if it is 12 type set id=0B override)
  • select disk 0
  • list volume,
  • select volume 3, or whatever partition your PQSERVICE is on
  • assign letter=P, or whatever disk you want to use for PQSERVICE
3. Delete all the files on your bootable USB disk

4. Copy all the files from your PQSERVICE Partition to your bootable USB disk

5. Insert your USB stick in the computer, pressing F12 when it boots and selecting the USB disk

6. You can also edit the USB stick with Windows AIK and DISM to tweak/remove any unwanted software in the PQSERVICE USB disk

Hope that helps :)
