Since two days I'm doing extensive research about using FBWF in nativeEx environment.

Currently I have
  • fbwf.sys 2.0.965.0 and fbwflib.dll 2.0.965.0
  • fbwf.sys 6.0.6001.18000 and fbwflib.dll 6.0.6000.16386
If somebody is working with other pairs, please PM them to me and post here (to avoid that I get multiple PMs with the same version)

Because it is for test purposes only, I do not have any doubt about legatity.

Peter

EDIT: I just got a BIG COLLECTION:

2.0.1200.0
6.0.5270.9
6.0.5384.4
6.0.5600.16384
6.0.5728.16387
6.0.5744.16384

Thanks to the sender!

Sorry peter for pm, nope you have all the versions i have (i first only checked the edit part of post1)

well not about the current subject but here is minor things:

it will be very nice to have a feature that makes fbwf not start at startup and in addition having a small set of shortcuts to start %10 %20 etc... or a small utility will be nice. Not starting fbwf at startup required for low rammed pc to start some applications .

also please check ~~130MB barrier with fbwf versions you find , currently i use 2.0.965.0 , and i can not copy 200mb to X: even if X: shows 300mb empty space. (current livexp create iso starting fbwf at startup block this with setting ~130MB max, 130 is not a fix number, it depends the number of files etc. you copy, this was discussed long while ago and this limit done).

Hi,

Fbwf 6.1.7600.16385 and PagedPoolSize=0xFFFFFFFF
(HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management) overcomes ~~130MB barrier for Xp SP3 builds.
New barrier is ~~430MB.

(maybe it works for 6.x versions too, not tested)
:)

here is a FBWF script for LiveXP i used to use,
it uses Joshua's tool: FBWF-Starter
it can manually start FBWF in the running PE
(manually can set the scratch space - WinPECacheThreshold - in its GUI)
found here: http://www.drowaelde...npe/PEIndex.htm
Attached File  fbwf_manual_v2.7z   41.84KB   555 downloads

script updated (now in the script interface the needed files are listed)

Script works. I like this method because it allows you to start it when you need it. Depending on what RAM is available. Thanks dera.

The Options offered by the Script when used in NativeEx project include the following

FBWF_Starter.jpg

Start File Based Write Filter
Start_File_Based_Write_Filter.jpg

Start File Based Write Filter Auto
Did Starting of Gui automatically and set the Ram use automatically before disappearing.

Start File Based Write Filter Manual
FBWF_Manual.jpg

In use
FBWF.jpg

What is the difference between
Start File Based Write Filter and Start File Based Write Filter Manual

NativeEx.jpg
Use following FBWF files
fbwf_manual.script
FBWF-20484/
FBWF.SYS
fbwflib.dll

The Script Gui fails to mention what files are needed to make the script work
Such as : Files needed: fbwf.sys, fbwflib.dll

The Script Gui fails to mention what files are needed

really,
sorry for that

but that is important to set 'ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management'
PagedPoolSize
at build time

in LiveXP if in CreateISO.script also FBWF used then a command used as
'CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx' entry
which try to set the PagedPoolSize,
but i believe it is too late

You have to thank dera for making it to a script.
