I am trying to run Seagate for Windows off the Visat PE which requires .NET Framework.

Ok, built myself a VistaPE CD with Max_real QNX's .NET Framework patch and the Visat PE Patch which includes the C++ redistribute. Also made myself a script for Seagate for Windows

when i try to run Seagate for Windows i get an error message

X:\windows\Microsoft.Net\Framwork\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll
could not be loaded.

the folder is there.

i tried a google, but the only posts i saw are people talking about normal Windows installed, and they just say to reinstall it (not an option here :good:)

Does anyone have any ideas????

Hi Folks,

I've just tried the .NET patch on a Vista PE build and attempted to run Paint .NET with the same results.

Error message:

X:\windows\Microsoft.Net\Framwork\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll
could not be loaded.

I have run depends.exe and the c++ runtime is not being found on my machine. When I load mscorwks.dll with depends.exe a total of 19 dependent Dlls fail to load. The most important of these is MSVCR80.DLL.

A quick dir shows that the file is not included in the build I have.

I'm continuing to look into this.

ahh, interesting...there is a addon that Max_Real QNX made which adds the C++ runtime, do you have that?

http://maxrealqnx.boot-land.net/
VistaPE Patch v3jb scv.17 For VistaPE

its very close to the bottom...

add that in and see if that works?

Max_real QNX, if that is the wrong addon, please let me/us know which one to use

Thanks,

I've added that patch and I now seem to have VC++ runtime, however it doesn't appear to be quite right. Paint .NET still doesn't run and depends now reports that mscorwks is loading MSVCR80 from \Windows\System32 which it shouldn't and that the side by side config for mscorwks, mscorpe and mscorsec all contain errors.

I'm just seeing if I can make a build that will allow me to look at the event log.

Max_Real QNX, do you have any ideas?

can you do me a favor and try this patch instead?

http://www.boot-land...mp;showfile=298

its the same thing, but appears to be a little older. Something might've broken in the newer version?
im making my VistaPE at work and im at home at the moment so i can't test it :good:

I'll try it but I used WinMerge to compare it with the patch script I am using and the only changes seem to be in the user interface.

I'm struggling with most of this now, its going to take some time to get to the bottom of it.

  • The C++ runtime side by side doesn't appear to be correct.
  • This appears to be affecting the .NET runtime.
  • The MSI Installer option of the patch doesn't appear to be correct. The msiserver service fails to start. I was planning to use this to attempt an install of vcredist_x86.exe to see if I could find the difference.

I've got other things to do now, I'll be revisiting this when I can.

Meanwhile it would be really useful to hear the original authors comments.

Max_Real QNX do you have any ideas you can offer?

Hello
@ ludovici did you just patch the VistaPE patch file from your download site?
Are you saying, This New VistaPE patch should work better side by side with the xVPE Net script?

Sorry I have been trying to keep up with Patches (versions) and download sites for VistaPE and I got lost.

Have a nice day :good:

A little more info from my testing;

If I use the xVPE Net script from http://maxrealqnx.boot-land.net/ and combine that with the xVPE Patch script that ludovici posted here most recently then Paint.NET runs perfectly.

If however, I use the xVEP .NET script posted by ludovici in this conversation along side the same xVPE Patch script then I get a runtime error when I start Paint.NET. The error is an exception and looks like its probably a .NET exception. I have not investigated further. Ludovici script is considerably smaller than the alternative.

And last but not least a cheeky question:

I actually need this to run some WCF code. Has anyone made any attempt to get .NET 3.0 of 3.5 onto Vista PE?

Hi guys :good:

I tested the software on (real computer system) the VistaPE 11 (the 1-Copy Files script option is standart) with VistaPE Patch v3jb scv.17 For VistaPE , CoMBo_Box v5f scv.27 RC1 RunOnceEx v8.f (I have started with the PnpUtiL) and Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0.50727 scv.14 For VistaPE.

But the software isn't working on the VistaPE. Error message is related to hardware detection. I did not see the SideBySide C++ or .Net Framework error.
