On a Windows system, I tried installing G4U on a USB drive, but it doesn't work. On bootup, I get a UNetbootin menu, but nothing can stop it from repeatedly counting down from 10. Is there a way to get G4U to work? Or does support have to be hard coded into UNetbootin?

Sorry, I thought everyone knew about Ghost for Unix.

No, never used it.

It looks like nice , the one alternative to "Ghost" that is "generally" used around here is PING:
http://ping.windowsdream.com/

From the (very little) I can find about it, G4U is also part of the UBCD:
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

but not the latest version:

g4u 1.17 Unable to integrate latest version of g4u (does not like mkisofs -N flag, which is required for integrating Windows CD). If anyone knows of a workaround, please email me.

I guess you are running Linux, aren't you?

If yes, read here:

Victor Chew made available a .sh script to combine the two floppies into one and then boot it using memdisk.

Which "main" bootloader are you using on your stick?

You may also want to try using grub4dos with .iso mapping to (hd32), cannot say if it can work....

UBCD50b12 (some previous beta versions too) has G4U V2.3.

Victor didn't make the script, he only got it from someone.
It creates a large floppy image from the 3 floppies of G4U, which can be booted with memdisk or grub4dos floppy emulation.

See the link to the UBCD forums in Jaclaz post, for the script.

G4U uses a NetBSD kernel and a NetBSD specific kernel loader. I think grub (and grub4dos) can load this kernel straigth away. So you can extract the kernel image from the iso. I didn't try to boot it with grub, so I am not sure if it works.

You can also try, G4L. It is similar to G4U, but it is linux based. Parted Magic (and the Parted Magic in UBCD50) has G4L.
