You should not have a problem compiling the project under x64 (even though I have not tested this). However your source Vista DVD to build VistaPE must be X86.

The OS will run SysWow64 emulator that should allow the Winbuilder.exe to work and build a 32-bit Vista PE build. However x64 (Microsoft Windows PE 2.0 64-bit which VistaPE uses as the source) does not allow any 32-bit applications or drivers which would severely limit the amount of scripts that could be created or used.

@lotus006

Before you do that...

You can also try [Project] pe21.003 to create an ISO for x86, amd64 or ia64. The project requires only the 'Windows AIK' directory as the SOURCE. However, it must be the WAIK 1.1 (released for Vista SP1).

The Winbuilder Download Center Server is pe2.winbuilder.net.

I haven't tried the Project under Win7beta yet. Nor have I developed a Project to take advantage of the new features of WAIK 2.0 (released for Win7beta).

Which WAIK are you using?

Regards

When installed, go to 'Add or Remove Programs', select 'Windows Automated Installation Kit, and 'Click here for support information' (... or equivalent for Win7 ... :cheers: ...). That should show the version. number. I guess you are using v. 3.0, which is untried for any Winbuilder Projects.

Yes. My Project selects the image-building tools to use depending on the Host's Processor Architecture.

It's not something I can test having only x86 myself. Is there a WAIK x64?

OK. WAIK 1.1 is another big download if you're interested in testing it out. It's next on my agenda.

I suppose the WAIK ISO installs on any platform.

The WAIK version number equals the Windows PE version number minus one.

WAIK 1.0 includes WinPE 2.0, WAIK 1.1 includes WinPE 2.1, and WAIK 2.0 includes WinPE 3.0. ... but occassionally I totally forget the mathematics and say something silly. ... :cheers: ...

VistaPE is a mysterious beast. :cheers:

The source of files is from boot.wim, install.wim and the Host OS. I suspect that one of these sources is based on Win7.

To my knowledge, VistaPE does not take files from the winpe.wim in WAIK... but I may be totally wrong here. Is there a setting to select WAIK as the only Source Directory? Can you post a log?

For a moment there, I thought you were using pe21.003, and anxiously awaiting your results. Oh well... You need help with VistPE? Not me, I'm afraid.
