also, a lot of links about your projects seem broken:
http://www.boot-land...mp;showtopic=76
http://psc.boot-land...rent/PicoXP.zip

http://www.boot-land...p?showtopic=428
http://update.boot-l...061003_1230.zip

It is EXTREMELY frustrating for a new user to find a "live" link by searching the board and click on it only to find out it is dead.

I guess we should make a list of broken links and provide an alternate download and/or - but I would NOT like this AT ALL - declare the given project/script "dead" and remove the link completely.

Or at least provide a "historical" archive, something like http://historical.boot-land.net/ where to upload all old versions, they do have an use.....

http://www.nativeex..../setOptions.exe
..

Try:
http://nativeex.boot.../setOptions.exe

Without the www.

The new server software doesn't add www. to subdomains by default.

This can be manually fixed, I've done it previously at request of bearwindows.

Will do it later tonight.

:)

Jaclaz, would you volunteer to maintain this historical archive along with Peter - not just to store winbuilder projects but also old versions of anything you consider relevant?

This could work a bit like http://archive.org or http://oldversion.com

I'll arrange the proper conditions if you would like to further explore this idea.

:)

I found it!

When moving to the new site the 'www' is lost.

The correct URL is now http://nativeex.boot.../setOptions.exe

EDIT: Crossing of posts :)

Sure. :)

I would like to have a sub-forum, titled Lost & Found where people, whenever they find a NOT working link make a post with title like example for BartAIO 1.5a:

[LOST] BartAIO 1.5a

with contents like:
Found broken link here:
http://z3.invisionfr...x...ic=19&st=15

I will then try to contact the OP in order, if possible, to ask whether is OK to re-publish the file and possibly get an original copy.

If the OP cannot be reached, I will ask for help and everyone will be welcome to provide a copy previously downloaded and send it to me or upload it somewhere for me to download.

Then I will either, strike the original not working link and supply a new link to the archive on http://historical.boot-land.net/ where I will upload the file or strike the link explaining why it is broken and why the project is not anymore available and change the title to:

[FOUND] BartAIO 1.5a

Would the above be OK? :)

...and yes, I will need some help from Peter and from any other member who published projects/apps on the board....

Ok, I fully agree with idea and will look into my own archives to find older versions of projects and files to make available as well.

--------

The Lost & Found sub forum also seems a good way for people make their requests about broken links.

Also, please add a new topic at the new section to keep track of boot-land.net subdomains that weren't still added - lately there have been so many changes that it's getting difficult to remember everything that needs to be done.

Thanks.

:)

Will do, though I thought that this sticky was enough:
http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=6434

Can you create the sub-forum here?:
http://www.boot-land...hp?showforum=75

I'll move the sticky there, deleting what has already been fixed and adding new requests for fixing.

To be picky :), the sub-title:

Need to find a file lost long time ago? Post your requests at this section!

seems to me unneededly "racist".

What about people needing to find a flile lost recently or short time ago?
:)

Something you cannot find is something you cannot find :), no matter if it was available until one split millisecond before you need it.....:)

I have no intention of causing a fire up of any more movements for defense of civil rights and I'm willing to cooperate as much as possible.. :)

By all means please adjust the subtitle to a more suitable description.
