Inspite I'm one of the members giving some critics to the new design:

Here is the right place to CONGRATULATE Nuno for his work.

I'm rather sure that this job demanded a minimum 28 hours day last days.

Thanks, Nuno, you did it great!

Peter

Don't thank just yet. The attachments aren't working at the moment.

The new server is much more strict and I need to learn my way to solve these restrictions.

I think I won't miss 404/500 :( And because of that I might get used to the new design :)

Many Greetings

A person which can explain his wishes with allowed 128 words is much more ingenious than a person who needs 2048 allowed words! :)

Peter

BTW (I try usually with 32 words!) :(

Very true my friend.

Look on the stats at the board index, all our bot friends also appeared for the reopening party and we're already being hammered with >1000 bots.. :)

They're in for a rough night if they think our server will grow overloaded this time.

Mr. Spock would say 'Very interesting, Let's see and react accordingly'
And he would give them a name different from 'bot', something like 'Klingon'

I'm very glad to hear your report, I've also been trying to open several topics at nearly the same time to stress the server but no error messages were outputted.

--------------------------

This server allows to cache mySQL and I've also configured the .htaccess file to instruct web browsers to cache files on disk after the first visit. PHP is being cached by IPB and the HTML page is compressed before being sent to the visitor.

The server is strong and the CPU is handling all of this processing very well, there are still some additional optimizations to try out but I'll likely postpone them for later since the performance at this moment is acceptable.

livexp.boot-land.net is also available as before and the daily download rate remains huge but we're not being slowed down because of it so little need to change anything at this moment.

No PHP accelerators or extra fast web servers are yet being used but they're without doubt a step to consider next.

-------

The number of visits in now averaging ~13500 page loads per day as compared to ~8000 before.

You mean that we have attracted some 1000 new visitors (with an average page per visitor of 5.5) because of the new design?

Or that before the server change there were 8000 views and 5500 404/500's?

Anyway, the new Server appears to work very well.

Good work. ;)

The accountable number of error pages last month was around ~16 500 page loads during the whole month against ~280 000 successful page loads.

Posted Image

But as everyone might remember, still existed several times that the load was so overwhelming that not even an error page was generated and the server required a reboot to restart the web server.

Two months ago at October, the site had ~323 000 page loads and the last month was the worst in my opinion. Not only the web server would collapse several times a day (like you certainly remember) as even the simplest ssh connection would break often and cut away the changes of working on the code of the websites.

-----------

At the moment the server is running at 30% of available resources and RAM is not an issue anymore.

I don't drink anything besides water for some time now, guess it's the advantage of being married but I wouldn't mind trying out some raki at least once!

Some time ago I'd surely be following Medevil's advice later tonight: http://barraponto.hi...wnerId=53063264 ;)

 do not try without someone who dont know to drink raki
it is different from western alcoholic drinks, you must be drink raki with appetizer + by sitting around a table + conversation. You cant drink on a bar (well you can but it will be tasteless)

anyway i take english defination here (which is better english than me :>):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meze

In Turkiye and Northern Cyprus meze are served along with rakı (anise-flavored apéritif) in establishments called meyhane. Turkish meze often consist of beyaz peynir (literally "white cheese"), kavun (sliced ripe melon), acili ezme (hot pepper paste often with walnuts), haydari (thick strained yoghurt like the Middle Eastern labne), patlıcan salatası (cold aubergine salad), kalamar (calamari or squid), enginar (artichokes), cacık (yoghurt with cucumber and garlic), pilaki (various foods cooked in a special sauce), dolma or sarma (rice-stuffed vine leaves or other stuffed vegetables, such as bell peppers), and köfte (meatballs).

you can drink raki with your wife, if she likes long converstaions. But better with crowded ~6 people

Do not know whether any others have that problem I have?

So at me the archive files which are attached in posts seems are corrupted - I am not able to extract them.
I have problem only with that archive files what are an attachment in a post.
Tried these and doesn't work at me:
xpe_directx.7z at Post #5
ATI_EchoWSv95.zip at Post #1
EASEUS_Partition_Manager_2x.zip at Post #32

I have no problem with those files what came from e.g. the'App Scripts' section (e.g. from vistape.fleming-group.com or lancelot.winbuilder.net or billonious.boot-land.net etc.)

Sorry dera,

after your post, i tried and couldnt download (more clearly, partial download) and mixed with your report.

Clearly, My problem is not downloading attachments; dera's problem is not extracting attachments.

dera, have you tried 7z to extract these .zip files. .zip files created by 7z may not be opened by winzip, at least winzip i have cant open them, so i use 7z with this kind of files. (at least i am sure xpe_directx.zip is a 7z file)

Nuno,
here is the picture i get when trying to download attached files

Neither of my tools can unpack
At me the download seemingly ok (it is completed as normally should)
but e.g. WinRAR says: Unexpected end of archive

Yes, I confirm the erroneous behavior.

Tried from Ubuntu/Firefox and can download the files but I'm unable to open them (either .zip or 7z)

Will try to google for similar cases to see what steps were done to fix this matter in similar forums transfers.

This is really strange.
