I don't know.

I may of course be completely and utterly wrong, but I do smell something fishy about that site.

I cannot see why a Russian guy should get a .com site sporting a photo of Seattle to give away for free a program and (supposedly) founding a "Group".

The Seattle address appears to be a very large business building where other companies have phones with an area code of (206) whilst "Ammyy Group" has a (425) phone number, (425) appears to be an area code for another part of the state of Washington.

In any case the full phone number:
(425) 296-9090
appears to be corresponding to Kirkland, WA and "Unpublished or Unavailable" on Yellow/white pages of Seattle:
http://www.whitepage...ocaltime=survey

The company isn't listed here:
http://streets.metro...0102389M11.html

(but this could be of course an old map)

Searching for the full number brings back to Maxim Prokopenko, i.e. the actual (Russian) domain holder of "ammyy.com":
http://www.whois.net...d=ammyy&tld=com

Administrative Contact:

Maxim Prokopenko (maks1180@gmail.com)

Fax: +1.5555555555

RU

Creation date: 29 Jan 2008 23:23:28

Through another site connected with Mr. Prokopenko, which is hxxp://www.skyperec.com/, if accessed through google, some pages on the site are blocked by the "interstitial" feature of google being rated as potentially dangerous.

Here:
http://spanish.downl...thor-13241.html
you can find out how MXsoft (the company allegedly making the skyperec software) has an alltogether different address in Bellevue, but the SAME phone number:

Dirección: 125 149th Ave NE
Bellevue, Washington, 98005
País: United States of America
Sitio web: www.skyperec.com
Soporte: +1(425)296-9090

And casually the registrar has the same (fake) fax number:

Domain name: skyperec.com

Registrant Contact:
MX Soft

I apologize in advance with Ammyy Group and Mr. Maxim Prokopenko if anything of the above is inaccurate, but he/they should in this case complain with the public services that made the quoted informations available.

For the above reasons, I personally would not trust touching that site and program with a shorter than 10 feet pole.

Well, no, I am not saying at all that it is not good.

I am saying that allowing a Remote Control application coming from an unknown - to say the least - source can be a serious risk for security, and if anyone tests it particular care should be taken in ascertain without ANY doubt that it does not carry ANY "malware" like Trojan Horses, Backdoors or Rootkits.

No more, no less.
