I had tried Winbuiler a year ago and succeded building a working copy of LiveXP
I tried with new version of WB 075. I got an serious error that HALT the process (see log).
I supposed a sub-directory had not been created and tried to create it but it was useless, the process starts from scratch.
Thank you for advice in case you know what to do.

The new WinBuilder demands some updates of your current LiveXP files.

The error you tell us should be fixed when you use API.Script version 18

Maybe that some individual scripts also fail. Then try to download their newest version.

You need to use WinBuilder 075b5e (or newer, that's up to you) to currently build LiveXP. Download the executable in my signature.

Galapo.

Thank you all for your answers.
I tried second method from Galapo and succeeded running winbuilder.
I corrected some minors faults (files missing in my source i386) and everything went OK when I got another sort of error : Failed to delete directory in script Basic\Build\api.script.
Here is a copy of the faulty part of log : (BTW : I have trouble uploading log or any document..)

Processed section [Expand_file] in file: [%BaseDir%\Projects\LiveXP\Basic\Build\api.script]

[Success] IF - Directory exists: [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\DPs\MassStorage\decompression] evaluated string: [If,ExistDir,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression",DirDelete,"%GlobalTemplates%\DPs\MassStorage\decompression"]
[Failed] DirDelete - Failed to delete directory [%BaseDir%\Workbench\Common\DPs\MassStorage\decompression]
[Warning] Halt

It seems there are other files and subdirs in that directory.
Any clue about correcting build to get an ISO?

If you have on-access virus scanning running, disable it. Sometimes this causes files and directories to be accessed while a delete is attempted but is not successful for that reason. If you don't have on-access virus scanning running, you'll need to determine what else might be locking the directory.

Alternatively, if you don't require the script in question, just disable it.

Regards,
Galapo.

Back here,
I have noticed that some of the scripts (Basic/WBManager and Build) are shown in left panel accompagnied by an exclamation mark. I tried redownloading them but nothing changes. Isn't it the sign of something wrong or inadequate in the script? Could it be an explanation to my troubles?

The exclamation marks display on project-essential scripts, ie scripts which must be enabled to get a working build, if disabled something will go wrong. They may only be disabled by a special "trick". This helps the developer so that he can know that the project he delivers shouldn't have a problem simply with a new user disabling something he shouldn't.

Regards,
Galapo.

I'm very grateful to all of you. Your answers comfort me during my efforts to conclude.
I am heading toward completion of build at a slow but steady pace.
Every now and then, I encounter an error that halts the process. Do you think it is possible to resume building from the faulty script without running ever and ever the same previous ones? If the answer is yes, it will help me considerably.
Best regards

If you would like WB to not halt at an error but instead attempt to continue the build and display errors only at the end, click on the 'Tools' icon at the top next to 'Play' and uncheck the option in the image:

Well I succeded building the ISO without error. But the result dont boot in Qemu : message
L'entrée "ntkrnlmp.exe" dans la section [SourceDisksFiles] du fichier INF
est endommagée ou manquante.
Le programme d'installation ne peut pas continuer.
Appuyer sur une touche pour quitter.

Is there a couple of things I can check to solve that question?
Thanks a lot for advice.

it is hard to understand french when you dont know french. maybe it is better to change language to english first before getting error

Please post log.html here.

Peter

always follow psc Peter's advice when you have trouble and report here,

(BTW : I have trouble uploading log or any document..)

you can use www.rapidshare.com or any other file sharing site when you have trouble to upload boot-land.

here is something in mind for you to try:
as you follow galapo method 2, you may have an issue of missing download
check here to see what i mean

I appologize for omitting to join the log.
Here it is : http://rapidshare.co...940764/log.html
Thank you Peter .

Your suggestion , Lancelot, helped me with download.
If I had to translate what I got in english, I would say :
The entry "ntkrnlmp.exe" in section [SourceDisksFiles] of INF file
is corrupt or missing.
The install programm cannot continue.
Press a key to leave.

OOPS! That's a log!

On the first view everything looks ok.
Even the 'erroneous' ntkrnlmp.exe seems to be installed correctly.

On the second view:
You start a 312 Mb ISO in 384 MB Quemu. Using pure mathematical rules, it fits. And because usually apps claim memory only if they are started, it may also be ok. But you have to consider that during the boot a lot of addidional memory is used, which is released later. But if it is not available during boot ???
Maybe a test to use Qemu with 512 Mb is successful. I don't know ...

How you should proceed?

Let me construct a small image:

You are all the day sitting at your office's table and do not move too much.

Your doctor recommends that you do a bit of sports.

You say: OK, next year I'm participating at the Ironman's World Championchip in Hawaii!

Besides the fact that Hawaii may be beautiful and interesting, do you see any chance for yourself to win, reach a remarkable result, or at least survive the contest?

Why here with LiveXP you start with 'Everything possible'? I'm rather sure that you do not even know all the apps you brought to your PE.
(If you know them all, sorry, I apologize)

You should start with a small project and add scripts step by step.

That makes it much easier to recognize troubles and fix them.

Nevertheless: I wish you a good start here, and if you have any question, do not worry to ask (look at my signature)

Peter

BTW: If you still want to start with the Ironman, try to uncheck the Multiprocessor script. Maybe it helps.

Peter, you are right, I had the idea to try smaller (the time to build such a project was more than 45'!) and I did. The result is the same, see log attached (no error), a message on boot concerning ntkrnlmp.exe. What damn is that? I suppose it's no use trying to burn a disk?
Concerning the apps I linked the first time, I was very optimistic and thought that everything would be ok and that I could have a tremendous recovery CD...
Thank you for assiting me in my second try with liveXP.

please compress the log files (ex: log.html) before uploading to rapidshare.
For compression you can use winrar (.rar), 7zip (.7z), winzip (.zip) or anything. log files will compress reaaaly a lot (~1/20) so it will be easier for you to upload, and for us to download.

If there are so many troubles to post your log:
Do not on every post, do only if I ask for.

Try this: In my signature you find nativeEx_barebone_075

This is the core of nativeEx based projects like LiveXP with some additional apps.
The advantage is that it always contains the latest WinBuilder beta version including a project adapted to this version.
(The disadvantage is that it at a certain time can contain garbage and will not work. That's actuality)

Try this project in a fresh directory.

If it works, add (copy) one LiveXP script after the other into the project.

As long as it runs, everything is ok, add the next script.

If it does not run any more, give a message here.

BTW: Qemu needs a long time to boot.

You can save a lot of time if you install VirtualBox (Freeware, URL given in the Finish > Emulator > VirtualBox script).
If you use it, you also should enable (if you want to use network) the corresponding driver.

Bad news, especially for me. I have tried Lancelot's suggestion and ticked the scripts listed in his post. No errors but Qemu doesn't boot and I get the same error.
I have to try Peter's proposal and download nativEX.
I keep you informed.
Thank you.

Edit : 12h19
Bad news for you too Peter, Nativex failed with the same error! I took it as downloaded without any change.
The log is attached below.
