Hello,

I am searching for a solution that can do the following:
Place several .ISO files on a harddisk (external via USB or connected via SATA) and boot a .ISO file (selected from a menu). For example an .ISO with Windows XP installation, a n .ISO with Linux and a .ISO with Ultimate Boot CD.

Does somebody know if this is possible?

Regards, John

Well, I digged into this and from what I've seen it's NOT possible to load Windows XP setup via Grub4Dos. Am I right, or is there somthing I overlooked?

You are right, currently it is not possible to boot NT-based OS iso (XP/Vista...) with grub4dos due to real/protected mode switching.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll better stop searching then :huh:
I don't understand that there isn't a hardware solution for something like this. For example an external harddisk that is able to "mount" iso's on the harddisk. I searched for a device like that, but it just doesn't exist, does it?

@Cybes
Generic solution is not avaiable today, but specific one could be done, e.g. booting XP install CD, boot Vista install DVD...
Other possibilities is to use U3 USB key:
