Hi there,

I am new to the subject of WinBuilder. I've now builded ISO's of LiveXP for several times and I am wondering if it is possible to obtain the classic blue XP graphics instead of the standard windows (2003) style?

Greets,

Ralf

Under 'Basic >Tweaks' you'll find the script 'Explorer shell - Tweaks and Settings'. Set it to your desired theme.

Regards,
Galapo.

Also, enable the ShellWM script and select the XP Luna theme, by default this script adds the Zune style theme.

You find it under Apps --> Visual

It's directly available from the liveXP download center or use this link and place it on your project folder: http://livexp.boot-l.../shellwm.script

Hi,

I've now downloaded the SHellWM, but I cannot find the "XP Luna" theme? Thanks anyway for your response. :whistling: And will I receive the blue taskbar this way?

Ralf

Sorry, the name of the theme is "XP blue" instead of luna.

Follow my directions on the first line of the previous topic.

We can only help if you post your log.html file, otherwise we'll all be guessing how your project looks like.

This is an essential step to know accurately which scripts you're running or not.

I saved my log as an html file and attached it. I had to zip it up though since it was around 11mb. I already had that setting set under explorer shell tweaks, but it's using the same classic theme.
What would the checks / unchecks have to be if I started fresh from the downloaded livexp file?
thanks for any help.

You did the right thing in zipping the log, it's much more efficient this way.

Looking on your log it seems like a regular project, where the proper script to add visual themes is also well configured.

--------

So, the error might be somewhere else.

If you started fresh from a new liveXP, the only thing to do is selecting the path where your Windows Install files are located and see the results.

For the first time, it is recommended that you run the project without any changes and later try different settings to progressively get the results you're expecting.

------

It's not unusual for people to try configure everything on the first run and end up changing settings that will disable other features or render the project inoperational.

So, on this case. A fresh download might be a good idea as this feature is usually selected by default or if it isn't you should enable the proper script as mentioned a few posts above.

I started with the fresh downloaded livexp and made sure basic>tweaks>Explorer-shell-tweaks&settings had the theme selected. Still shows up with the classic theme loaded. I then checked that apps>visual>shellwm was loaded and had a theme selected under it, and re-ran it all (with the same results.) I've attached the fresh log again. I just can't seem to get the silver or blue theme loaded.
Thanks for all the help!

Your log shows a minor error about avast updates not being download but most important of all - that you didn't even run the ShellWM script in the first place.

Solution: Click on the checkbox of the ShellWM script to ensure that it is included when building your project.

No problem, I should have known it was too simple to be true.. ;)

--------

Let's do some basic checkings then.

Can you run shellWM from the start menu under LiveXP?

Shellvm I could not find under the start menu or control panel anywhere. It is running in the tray though as ShellVM beta 0.7. The load & unload skin option of it doesn't seem to do anything at all either.

There's something seriously wierd with your build. It should work.
If shellVM is running, you should be able to change the style of all windows except taskmanager.

I can't shake the feeling that we're missing something real fundamental.

hmm.. if you already see the tray then it means that the program has started as expected.

------

The program shortcut is located at the start folder (don't remember correct english designation) of the start menu.

One thing also worth noting is that not all windows appear skinned, the console window (cmd.exe) is not skinned but in other cases like the explorer window, it should appear skinned.

This is a very strange situation, would you check if under the Program files of LiveXP, the shellWM program is correctly installed and that you're able to start the program and change skins from there?

---- Edit ---
sorry, crossposted with MedEvil's reply..

I'm not sure what else to try. The steps that I followed were:
1. download the latest stable version from winbuilder.net
2. unzip
3. use winbuilder in the unzipped folder
4. turned on shellvm and ensured a theme was selected
5. build & run in virtualbox
6. no theme

I checked under start>programs>startup and couldn't find shellvm anywhere. I also did a search for shellvm on the entier disk and windows search didn't find it anywhere. Maybe thats the problem? How do I ensure shellvm gets loaded even though there are no errors saying it wasn't loaded?
Thanks again

Well.. This seems like a perfect mistery case for the ultimate LiveXP experts.

With some hope PSC, Lancelot and other members might read this topic and remember something else that can be done to help on this situation.

See you tomorrow and good luck!

Just a quick question.
How can you see the tray icon and not find the program? ;)

Also since noone has mentioned it yet. It's best to have no spaces in the folder names.

That's a great question. I am not sure how the program loads and is visible in the tray, but doesn't have a shortcut in the programs menu, or a file anywhere else.
Just using the standard build straight from a fresh download, it should load correctly. I'm just not seeing whats wrong.

Hi zasanil

As nuno described, i enable apps->Visual->Shellvm, i choose "Internal XP Blue 1.0 by Aphoria" and results is
Posted Image
i see you did the same from you log file, isn't it what you get, or what you want?

As medevil mentioned, you must not build livexp from desktop
Move LiveXP folder to C:\ and run C:\LiveXP\winbuilder.exe from there ;)

Also, avast script fixed, update livexp, you will get new avast script which will download the update.

@all
can anyone advice another theme script
