=============================================================================
Creating An EXE file from our Files and Directories
=============================================================================

Hi

Some times we have a directoy that contains several files and sub directories (For example portable
programs or even sotwares as Office and else),and we want to have them as one EXE file.And we want
this "EXE" file to have properties below:

1.It should Contain all files and directoris.
2.It should have size less than our source files.
3.It should have our favorite ICON.
4.It should be extracted any time we want,and should act fast.
5.It should be extracted any place that we said to that (when making it).
6.When creating that,we should be able to make it to be extracted Silent or Normal.
7.We should be able to tell that to run one or more commands,befor installation ,during installation
or after installation.

=====================================================
Here i am going to tell you how can we Create an Exe file from "DriveImage XML 2.01"

note that In this tutor you need to use "WinRar 3.7.1", and i suppose you have installed it.

=========================================================
Creating Customized exe file for DriveImage XML 2.01
=========================================================

1. Make ready The icon that you want to use as Exe file's icon an place it in C:\,(for
example c:\01.ico).

2. Go to link below and make portable version of DriveImage XML 2.01

http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=5554

3. Do as tutor above then Copy contents of ...\Program Files\Runtime Software\ in C:\
(you should have C:\DriveImage XML ) see pic_1 from attachment.

4. Select all contents of C:\DriveImage XML directory ,Right Click and select "Add to "DriveImage XML".rar",
Winrar will make c:\DriveImage XML\DriveImage XML.rar

5. Right Click on DriveImage XML.rar and select open with winrar,the rar file will be
opened by winrar,(see pic_2).

6.Click on "SFX" as you see in pic_2,another window will be opened (see pic-3).Click on
"Advanced SFX options.." as you see in pic-3

7.Another window will be seen (pic_4),set that as pic_4.(ofcourse we can give
other places insted of program files directory but i am not going to detail here).

8.Go to "Advanced" tab and click on " add shotcut" and set the comming window as pic_5 for having shortcut
in desktop ,then OK it.

9.Go to "Modes" tab and set that as pic_6 .

10.Go to "Text and Icon" tab and set it as pic_7.

11.Click on OK,After a few seconds file C:\DriveImage XML\DriveImage XML.exe (by our Icon will be made.

Now if you take C:\DriveImage XML\DriveImage XML.exe to any system and run it,it will extract
DriveImage XML 2.01 in program folder directory of that system,and will place a shortcut for
that in desktop.

Note:
-------
We can do a lot of things in process above,for example we can make the exe file to run silent,or
we can customize setup page text and theme,we can run a file befor or after setup and more...

Any way In this tutor i tried to introduce one method.

hope will be helpful

Shirin,
I slightly edited the title of the topic as it seemed like you wakted to "compile" files and directories.

A suggestion, if I may:
Why don't you re-do another tutorial with 7-zip (available to all) instead of using a commercial app?

Besides there are modified 7-zip self extracting stubs with lots of options.

:whistling:
