Our current forum database has already passed the 1000Mb marker and this is alarming since we all know how databases should be a bit more light weight to provide better work conditions and avoid the slug times waiting for a page to appear.
This was due to the large size of attachments that made the size grow so quickly so I decided to limit the max size to 500Kb to encourage people to upload these files onto their own personal spaces rather than the forum database and provide the links from there.
Now I'm looking for good php scripts that allows starting our own uploading web service outside the forum space so that people can still upload and keep track of the number of downloads without hassles or compromising the forum performance.
As mentioned before, it is also recommended to use an FTP account to place and manage your files. If you don't have your own web space then you can take a look here: http://boot-land.blo...buildernet.html

News update.
- mysql forum DB was fixed - had a corrupt table that was likely hogging memory
- mysql forum DB optimized - found a nifty tool that allowed to optimized all available mysql tables
- boot-land.net now using FastCGI and XCache for PHP speed up
- on the forums header was removed the google stats script
These modifications should significantly contribute to improve our forum conditions.
Hopefully even better news should soon follow to allow definitively solve the dreaded error 500 pages.
