Virtualization on LiveXP:
vmCrypro.script - VMWareConverter.script - VMWarePlayer.Script - VMXBuilder.script

Everything seems to be working nice so far

vmCrypro.script is forgotten which gives result
"VMWAre.Script needs vmCrypro.script selected"
when "wmware player" selected

i downloaded vmCrypro.script from nativeex_moa-lite project and put vmCrypro.script to .\Projects\LiveXP\Apps\Virtualization folder, only a warning for refreshwars 'cause winbuilder 075 used.

Since I generally don't enable the verify script, I didn't pick that up. In my tests, I found crypto to not be necessary. But still I think I'll add just in case.

Thanks,
Galapo.

that was verry fast

Maybe you are interested, (since there is a Virtualization section now on LiveXP=
also there is Portable-VirtualBox which in its nature will probably start directly in livexp (havent tried yet)
http://vbox.hubutz.d...ble-VirtualBox/

and a question:
is there any plan to put a virtual ethernet card (probably with a fix ip 1.1.1.1) so pe network can start easly at all time?.

correction:
reason of refresh var warning comes from
%BaseDir%\Projects\LiveXP\Basic\Build\7 - OLESupport.Script
when + vmCrypro.script +VMWarePlayer.Script
selected

I've thought about it, esp. since Ulli posted how to do it the other day, but haven't had time. I admit I haven't really used VirtualBox as I've been using VMWare Server for the last few years.

Not really from my point of view as the system would have to be tricked somehow into thinking a matching adapter was present and I don't know how to realise that. The latest penetwork beta, though, can start services etc even if no physical adapter is found, so starts without prompts or error messages if desired.

Galapo.

Galapo - there is a virtual nic available called virtnet - you can bring that up without any other physical nics available.
http://www.ntkernel....m/w&p.php?id=32
In MOA I use the VMware virtual nics to bring up network in case there are no physical nics - or I don't need them

I don't suppose you have a BartPE plugin for it that I could take a look at to see how you've done it?

Thanks,
Galapo.

I hardly use plugins anymore

copy netVirtNet.inf into x:\i386\inf and virtnet.sys into X:\i386\system32\drivers
then you can bring up the device with devcon - at least thats what I did when I last played with it

I have some reg-patches from my experiments - if you want you can convert them into inf-files

I was just starting to think before you posted that that was how you might have done it!

Thanks,
Galapo.

I got it recognised with:
devcon install %windir%\inf\netvirtnet.inf "*NM_VIRTNET"

devcon enable @root\net\0000

nope didnt work
in 1st trials i notice VirtNet_Network_Adapter.script couldnt extract virtnet.sys to livexp, so i added files i got from website "Virtual Network Adapter VirtNet 1.0_VirtNet.zip" to livexp with penetwork script "add driver" section and repeated trials

here is what i do:
i put VirtNet_Network_Adapter.script to "3 Network" folder
i deselected all network drivers in network section, and only select VirtNet_Network_Adapter.script
i start penetwork (it is manuel, not automatic)
i see a virtnet found adabter window (1sec) but after that an error screen,
ERROR!
No network cards detected!
Program will be Exit now

i enabled xpe, same result,
-tried to add with driverimportpe, found but couldnt install successfully
-disabled VMWareNIC.script and enabled all left, same result with vmware
-disabled qEmuNIC_RTL8139.script and QemuNIC-W2k3.script and enabled all left, same result with qemu
-try to add Virtual Network Adapter VirtNet 1.0_VirtNet.zip files with driver import pe without enableing your script, "Wrong device"

i hope these help

BTW:
at last i mostly finished my migration to livexp, with all thing i used with bartpe+all apps in livexp, it is only 464mb (bootsdi+wimpack) Thanks all support galapo and also nuno, nikzzz, psc, dera, kare..... and everybody who contribute this project (in any way), i have some minor foundings/adds and report them soon for improvement.

Currently PENetwork requires a physical adapter to bring up the full GUI. Hence my request here: http://www.boot-land...?...ost&p=41753. Hopefully Holger will be able to modify so that if a virtual adapter is found, PENetwork will still still display full GUI even if no physical adapter is found.

Good to hear. It hasn't taken you too long to move across.

Thanks all support galapo

That's OK!

Galapo.

Galapo.

yep you are right virtual adapter installed successfully, but network service couldnt start, hopefully penetwork will work soon.
sorry i was mistaken, files copied successfully too (i will make an addition not to make this mistake again)
yep bartpe converter helps a lot for migration, but it took time to learn how to use converter (+ finding out how to use infconvert.ini). I converted all .inf i used with bartpe to .script and make required changes in script
And i had an idea to write a tutorial to make livexp work on xp setupped (maybe later vista too) C:\ partition without using grub, http://www.boot-land...?...ost&p=41764 , but i stopped there, if you have an idea please post there

Are there any plans afoot to update the VMware Workstation/Player plugin to support VMware Wstn 7.0x and Player 3.0x at present? I am currently finding version 6.0/2.0 to be a bit behind the times.

Hi robinj

well, it is up to end users support to update scripts or/and finding time for them .

Also check this section, there is LODR-U method, you will find "LODR-U Vmware player 2.5.3" and "LODR-U vmware ws 6.53" there.
