Running VirtualBox is very easy in MOA - I guess in some winbuilder projects it may work also ??? -

Just install it once somewhere and copy the install-directory to your PE.
In MOA please use this directory: R:\vm\virtualbox - adjust to your needs in other builds.
Make sure you have R:\vm\virtualbox\VirtualBox.exe

After full boot run this cmd

@echo off

regsvr32 /s R:\vm\virtualbox\VBoxC.dll

drv_ctl --inst-nostart VBoxDrv R:\vm\virtualbox\drivers\VBoxDrv\VBoxDrv.sys

drv_ctl --inst-nostart VBoxTAP R:\vm\virtualbox\drivers\network\VBoxTAP.sys

drv_ctl --inst-nostart VBoxUSB R:\vm\virtualbox\drivers\USB\device\VBoxUSB.sys

drv_ctl --inst-nostart VBoxUSBMon R:\vm\virtualbox\drivers\USB\filter\VBoxUSBMon.sys

net start VBoxDrv

net start VBoxUSBMon

start R:\vm\virtualbox\VBoxSVC.exe

You can remove the additions.iso and the help-file - then you get a directory about 27 Mb

Hmm..

When Jaclaz reads your reply he'll likely say to himself: "your google-fu needs to be refined.."

I noticed that a similar question was asked by Galapo last month: http://www.boot-land...?...ost&p=37733

The initial source code of the program was made available by Microsoft on the DDK sources but Alter has later introduced some good improvements (he's also the author of a few other good tools as well)

You find the official homepage for reference here: http://alter.org.ua/...t/win/drv_inst/

that is probably because Jaclaz is THE finder while its my job to run VMs on PE

see Posted Image

By the way - when you try to run VirtualPC along with Parallels or VirtualBox you get problems because of conflicting hypervisors

I like it with the "THE" before! ...but of course the "f" should be CAPITAL:

THE Finder

maanu thanks for your fast reply!!!

Do you need VirtualBox ?
With VMware this works without problems.
I just tried to specify physical disks on my LiveCD with VirtualBox but it does not work - but it sure does work with Workstation

Hi
with Workstation you create a VM and simply say "add disk" - then you specify "use physical disk" - then select the disknumber - nothing tricky.

I am using Slax based USB-stick with VMware Workstation since a while - it is still slower than the Windows based variant.
Anyway - I'd like to see a Howto for Ubuntu + USB-stick + latest Workstation
