If Art had a name, its name would be Sabayon. The most advanced, scalable and community driven Linux distribution of this odd world, brought to you from a fashion-leading country.

The Sabayon Linux 3.4 was released last month in a 4.2GB package available via FTP, torrent downloads, and direct purchase. The minimum requirements for the live DVD are an i686 processor and 256MB RAM (512 recommended).

Sabayon's boot screen offers users a variety of choices. Besides the options of language, keymap, screen resolution, and another menu full of other modes and options, you can pick:

* Start SabayonLinux 3.4 -- boots the normal system, including accelerated graphic drivers and your choice of Compiz Fusion or Metisse (with supported Nvidia or ATI graphics chip).
* Start without Music -- disables music during boot.
* Anonymous Internet Browsing -- purports to enable anonymous browsing
* Start Graphical Installation -- boots to Fluxbox and starts graphical installer.
* Start Text Installation -- boots the system and starts console-based installer.
* XsistenCe (Persistent Home) -- allows you to save personal configuration settings and files on a USB drive for future use.
* Play with Sauerbraten (Game) -- boots directly into the game.
* Play with Savage (Game) -- boots directly into the game.

Sabayon also comes in a Business Edition and usually a Mini edition. With all it has to offer, Sabayon has something for everyone:

Well downloaded Sabayon once but i didn't have a clue on what to look so i simply let it go but as i can see now it has this new installer . But i hate compiling software so i'll stick with Ubuntu and/or Fedora(which i don't use at all).

/benxhi (these are my thoughts).

It is said that sabayon installer can install a gentoo based linux in five minutes.Recently i have a try (sabayon 3.5 x86 Pod), after installing gentoo 2008 failed. It contains realplay&mplayer, can play video (rmvb type included) fluently.

During the test, i found an amazing feature that we can boot the livecd from hard disk directly. Here we go...

###sabayon : boot & install from hard disk###

http://www.linuxsir....read333326.html

First of all, sabayon.igz only has ext filesystem support, fat32 or ntfs not support yet.

step1:
copy sabayon sabayon.igz livecd.squshfs livecd mini to an ext filesystem root from iso image.
The following sample cdroot is sda9, an ext3 filesystem, Mod it according to your own situation.

step2:
use grub grub4dos grub2 lilo or whatever to boot&install sabayon
title Start SabayonLinux 3.5 x86 pod

  kernel (hd0,8)/sabayon root=/dev/ram0 noaccelmanager aufs init=/linuxrc cdroot=/dev/sda9 looptype=squashfs max_loop=64 loop=/livecd.squashfs splash=silent,theme:sabayon vga=791 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet music

  initrd (hd0,8)/sabayon.igz

title Start Sabayon Pod 3.5 (3D Desktop)

  kernel (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon root=/dev/ram0 noaccelmanager aiglx aufs init=/linuxrc cdroot=/dev/sda9 looptype=squashfs max_loop=64 loop=/livecd.squashfs splash=silent,theme:sabayon vga=791 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet music

  initrd (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon.igz

title EeePC Boot (640x480 boot)

  kernel (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon root=/dev/ram0 noaccelmanager aufs init=/linuxrc cdroot=/dev/sda9 looptype=squashfs max_loop=64 loop=/livecd.squashfs splash=silent,theme:sabayon vga=0x312 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet eeepc

  initrd (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon.igz

title Start Graphical Installation

  kernel (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon root=/dev/ram0 aufs init=/linuxrc cdroot=/dev/sda9 looptype=squashfs max_loop=64 loop=/livecd.squashfs splash=silent,theme:sabayon vga=791 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet installer-gui

  initrd (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon.igz

title Start Text Installation

  kernel (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon root=/dev/ram0 aufs init=/linuxrc cdroot=/dev/sda9 looptype=squashfs max_loop=64 loop=/livecd.squashfs splash=verbose,theme:sabayon vga=791 CONSOLE=/dev/tty1 quiet installer-text nox

  initrd (hd0,8)/sabayon/sabayon.igz

step3:
Enjoy!
