I built a vistaPE disk and am trying to map a network drive using the "net use" command. When i type in "net use z: \\server\images"

it asks "what is the user name for 'server':

I enter "Admin"

then it asks me for a PW

i enter Admin.

It then says "The user context supplied is invalid"

any suggestions?

Assuming Admin\Admin are the correct credentials to access your remote share. you will need to use this format for the Username:

Either:

DomainName\Admin

or

Hostname\Admin

With a WinPE 2 based build the domain or hostname component seems to be mandatory. Hope this helps

I have tried that and same thing.. I am able to to map drives from xpPE disk. I tried to turn the firewall off in the PE2.0 disk. still no luck

I have tried

net use z: \\server\images /user:admin

and

net use z: \\server\images

"then it prompts me for the UN and PW"

neither one works and gives me the error

"The user context supplied is invalid"

Networking probably hasn't completed by then. Starting networking doesn't mean its available right away especially if you are doing the ExtPNP method. You have to wait for networkig components to finish.

well i didn't get it to work with that tutorial.. i am trying it again as it says some people are having trouble with the bcdedit steps. There is another tutorial at the bottom of the page where the guy took the main tutorial and saved the files zipped them and is now sharing the files

http://personal.ryan...and-windows-pe/

I am trying to use his now to see if it works.. if this works i need to find out if i can boot xpPE and pe2.0 on a flash drive with syslinux. I did see a post that is using a different revison of syslinux but i can not find it again sad.gif.. Alsoi would like to not have multiple partitions if possible, which should be since pxe linux is the same as syslinux right?

edit: i think the name of the syslinux alternative is simbo or simbian but i cant find it.. But i remember Jaclaz posted it. (found Jaclaz poseted it on MSFN fourms not here)
edit2: ok i remember now.. its SIBLO

Myk3,
don't take it the wrong way :), but you might be unaware that most, if not all, members here at boot-land are also members at 911CD Forums.

Thus, posting the same thing on the two boards is pretty much pointless, as the audience is more or less the same, and actually this behaviour may make people "skip" your posts, as they will presume they already saw them on the "other" board, and definitely increases my work as Admin here and Mod there :(.
