So, the forums went down before I posted this the first time and I lost a very detailed explanation...so hear goes the short version.
I have a boot.wim file with a driver folder at the root that loads an intel pro 1000 pm driver for a gateway profile 6. The nic works, if I re-run the vista setup after it has already run during boot up. Afterwards I have to do an ipconfig /renew. Then it works flawlessly. Anybody seen this before.
Also, other symptoms. I have one profile 6 system that has a printer and scanner plugged in the usb ports...that is the only difference from the rest. It will load the nic every time on boot until I unplug the two devices from the usb ports. Also, on other HP machines it will auto mount flash drives, but not on the gateway profile 6 systems. I can mount it if I go to devman and refresh the individual device.
Any clues? I was thinking it may need a chipset driver, but it does not fit since I can manually start the nic.
