Hello!

This project reduces longhorn 6.0.3718.0 to its 'fundamentals' using some less documented registry settings and component removal scripts in the FLP (for Legacy PCs) tradition. All changes, extras, and tweaks are fully integrated including wmp9 -> wmp10.

The txtsetup based setup has been converted to a wim based install. using longhorn build 4015 and ximage 4007.

Here are screen shots of setup and first boot from early test versions...

I like the simple percentage full bars from build 3718, the basic lime green looks frightfully cool and doesn't tax the system much.

Attached screenshots picture the added Panther setup in progess (last shot), an offline inspection of the setup logs from winpe (1st shot), and the first boot desktop...

In your PM I thought you were spoke of modding the desktop build tag.

Looks thoughtfull, but I would not put my name in the bld tag.
currently using,
Windows Longhorn XP_MBFLP_EN Build 3718.lab06_n.021119.1730

So... the 'private' may be a nice touch, eh?

Windows Longhorn XP_MBFLP_EN Build 3718.private.021119.1730

Now I just need you to squeeze in a 'VL' :D Can you help me? :D

btw, what is:
~ Windows OCManage of BetaArchive
??

Perhaps some build comparisions are in store.
..
I put up a different desktop shot which shows the real build tag.

Wim repacking is done!
I didn't think I'd make any changes but did add a couple things. Put back were Outlook Express, MovieMaker, DX9c (added), and some other small items, which all added about a 10 Mb. to the final wim image.
....

The longhorn 4015 based Panther setup removes mounted volume keys from the registry which I didn't expect, a nice plus (though taken care of).
I also found that the image file index is not fixed with 4008-15 based setup images, a nice plus. The lh 4074 setup, for example, extracts image "3" from the wim file, this means you must manually edit files containing single images and an index of "1", but with 4008 to 4015 the wim does not have to be touched, just replace the original file and your ready.
....
so.. the end result was a little under 400 mb. worth of bits.
lhf3718_x86_pse.cab 369 mb.
(cabarc 6.0.3718.0)

lh_flp_3718_x86vol_pse.iso
(cdimage 2.53)

The wim inside the iso was made using ximage 4007 from a mounted trueimage backup.
