You can download it no fuss from here:
http://download.wind...en/download.htm

I don't trust the download manager bit, but Firefox worked just fine. Other download managers got blown off with some referer denied message >:P

One must still obtain a license key and activate Vista.

Can you tell how big is the download file and if the license is time limited? :P

...and it seems to me just yesterday (1994) the joy I felt when I bought a Compaq 486 66DX with a hard disk of 300 Mb and found out that the hard disk was actually 500 Mb, only formatted to a lesser capacity.... :P

... call me old fashioned, but I find that the only attribute I can give to 2.62 Gbyte is "immoral".... :P

Back in 1994 I had a portable computer wich had a 4,86Mhz CPU, 640Kb RAM, monocromatic screen and two floppy drives - I was indeed quite happy with this machine - it ran autocad and prince of persia and a few other nifty apps.

After a while I've upgraded to a 20Mb drive - running defrag took almost 7 minutes to finish..

Windows 3.0 took most disk space on my drive back then.. :P

It was called "portable" because it used batteries (10x of them..) - I actually prefered the term "transportable" since it weighted around 10Kg with all extra acessories..

I also have still a WANG PCS (P means portable, about 20 kg!) from around 1975.
It is a BASIC computer with 4 kb (correct: KILOBYTE) of RAM and two floppies with about 300 kb each.
[attachment=319:attachment]
When I let it compete with my 2.4 GHz PC and increment numbers, my WANG is trying to output 1000 while the PC crashes with a long integer overflow.

BTW: besides the WANG you see a part of my old SUN UNIX WS from about 1985.

I did download ! DSL2000 and about 2 hours :P

Currently I see no way tu use it as a source for WinBuilder: No directory comparable with I386.
Everything different. Only a 'Setup'

Maybe the different larger files contain someting suitable.

Google is your friend.... :P :
http://www.apcstart....mat-with-imagex

Now we know which program is needed, ImageX from the WAIK, but:

Unfortunately WAIK isn’t yet available for public download — it is only available to Microsoft-invited formal beta testers of Vista. However, we suspect it will be publicly available soon.

maybe through Microsoft Connect:

It's possible to "extract" PE from Longhorn :P
See http://board.iexbeta...showtopic=42111
I believe, soon it will be the same with Vista :P

BTW, this MSFN topic is an interesting reading:
