When starting your WinBuilder PE, every drive letter is built automatically and is usually very different from that one you know.
Network drives are lost and you have to redefine them if you need them.
etc. etc. ...

Long time ago I built an autohelp plugin for Reatogo, which I now adapted to WinBuilder.

Instead of explaining a long time, three screenshoots
#1 the environment of my develop PC
PE_normal.gif
#2 the environment of the PE after booting on the develop PC
PE_explorer_pre.gif
#3 the environment of the same PE after running pscNamePC
PE_explorer_after.gif

Not proofed here, but I give the 'certificate' that it is true:
If I boot with the same CD on one of my other network PCs (Server, Office, Notebook) pscNamePC also shows the correct environment of the actual PC :loleverybody:

Satisfied?

Currently the program has one small issue which is not present in Reatogo (that means BartPE):

CD drives are not recognized correctly. I'm sure that I'll fix it in the next release(s).
EDIT: Fixed, see below

Some theory for those who are intested:

The different PCs are recognized by hash codes mainly depending on their HDD partitions.
If there are removable HDD frames, the PC will be recognized, if most of the HDD partitions are known.

BTW: Currently the prog has to be started manually using the start menu, because it needs PENetwork finished.
@Holger: Maybe an option for PENetwork to start pscNamePC?

Peter

The pscNamePC.Script is added to the nativeEx_core project.
You may download it there.

There is a new version available on the nativeEx server
  • New AutoIt handling like described here
  • Debugged recognizing of CD drives; now it does not matter whether the drive contains a CD or not
  • The 'Main' task is started by Autostart and renames drive letters / adds network drives
  • A 'secundary' task may be manually started after PENetwork has finished to do the share work.
But that usually should be not necessary because this could be already have been done in PENetwork.
  • Some improvements in the user GUI
Peter
