I get a (registered) DOS application [Active@ Partition Recovery 3.0] and I would try to launch it under VistaPE.
To do this I thought to copy "PR.exe" (the program consists in this one file) in "X:\Windows\System32" directory (to use it easily from Command line), but I don't know if it can be done...
Every idea is welcome! :loleverybody:

Sorry to say so, but I sincerely doubt that you will ever be able to run that app.

That app, like MOST of those related to HD direct access, HD recovery, HD editing and HD imaging that are DOS based, WILL NOT work under anything but DOS.

All NT based systems, including VISTA, have a HAL, Hardware Abstraction Level, that prevents any app to directly access hardware (the hard disk in this case).

There is NO workaround for this (as Microsoft would put it, it is "by design").

jaclaz, thank you so much for your reply: in fact, I'm trying and it works in no way.
Then a REAL workaround exists: to get a Win32 version! :loleverybody:
Seriously, in any case I would like to know if it exists a way to place any file in "X:\Windows\System32" directory...

[For this reason I've lightly modified the topic title.]
