I have a working nativeEx project with full network support (thanks to Peter) but doesn't recognize my cordless USB mouse when booting from CD . For anyone who has one of these technological marvels, you know it's not just a frivolous extravagance: it's a necessity! . So I would like to find a script to add the necessary drivers to get this mouse movin'! I'm sure this is doable as I have many other boot CDs that support this mouse and the cordless keyboard (same cordless USB setup) works fine! Even my floppy boots recognize it! I think it's just a matter of finding or modifying a script for these drivers; something I would love to be able to do myself but don't know where to start. So if there's anyone with any knowledge of how to modify or build a script of this type that wants a challenge, I'll be the hardware tester!

Some of the files you need, are not on the standard XP source.
Please post your mouse's driver install package here and I'll try to write you a script for that.

The script is contained also in the LiveXP project.
But as I wrote in my previous post, your mouse needs files which are not contained in the standatd XP source CD, and therefore cannot be delivered by that USB script.

Hey, Peter, that would be fantastic but I'm not sure exactly what you need; there are two applications that seem to overlap, both Logitech, MouseWare and SetPoint. I'll include the drivers from both here:

It seems there must be a simpler 'universal' driver that would work; the floppy boot disks that allow this mouse to work only load "Microsoft Mouse Driver Version 8.20" and it works fine! (obviously, I don't know what the h*ll I'm talking about) just let me know what you need

Maybe you really should first try the USBSupport.Script which is contained in LiveXP\Drivers.

#2 USB mouse:
I have no experience with USB Mouse, but in my opinion it should help if you copy the USBSupport.Script from LiveXP\Drivers to the same folder of nativeEx_barebone (check it for run, of course)
If that does not help, start a new topic about USB mouse.

But in the stress of your BSOD you did not realize it.

Recently I discovered an elusive problem in the script's reg file, upper filter entries and mounted volumes from some user's system. There's also TcpIp and a motherload of other bullsh*t.
If the update can be tested, I would like to hear the results from diff. users.

When I suggested Ove's script I did neither have had opinions about its 'quality' nor I knew that you have an enhanced version.
As you know, because of my hardware i cannot test USB stuff.

I have just seen this post last night, and this morning I have reduced the usbstor.reg file further.
I have deleted a lot of stuff from it, and kept only things related to usb and removable storage.

The reg file is practically ripped from Mick Leongs USB&IEEE1394 plugin for BartPE. I think his script made more things work than just USB, but I can't test them, so my script only includes USB support.
I have kept the old reg file beacause of the motto: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
But now I have reduced the reg file, and I am attaching the new version of the usb script (version 11)
Please test it and let me know if the USB keyboards and mice work, since I can't test them.

In the future I will try to reduce the reg file to a minimum (i will try and delete some more stuff tomorow)

@Alexei: Sorry I forgot to include you in the credits. I will do it now

Oh my god, the script does too much!
Sometimes i just don't get this forum.
Nobody seems to have a problem with loading a whole OS into memory.
But a script has a line or two too many and all hell breaks loose.

Generally I agree (I'm rather sure that Phox will post a 'No' here ).

But we also have to consider Thunn's post that additional lines 'ruin other functions'.

That was the reason I suggested Thunn and Ove do a conference and as a result we have one optimized scripts.
Not two scripts where every user may test which of them has the lower number of bugs for him personally.

Long time ago I have pledged to give to Peter power to
synchronize scripts for LiveXP and nativeEx (as R&D vehicle),
among other reasons, to avoid interference (especially negative).

Most of the script developers tend to make scripts as sophisticated
(unnecessary) as possible (MS syndrome).

As every script must take care for additional files and special
environment it also must not interfere with other scripts and
their environment.

I think it is time to revise all scripts, simplify them and redistribute
areas of coverage.

Today I posted a reply anywhere which seems to be lost.
Therefore here again:

[Tool] regScanConsistency.exe
The program scans the actual project's registry writes (including build time and boot time *.reg).
It reports double writes into the same reg key.

If there is at least half a 'yes' I'll start.

Absolutely agree. The less confusion the better.

I'm just not a big fan of throwing things out, at least not as long as noone seems to know exactly what those things were coded in for, in the first place.

After all the original script was once ment to give USB and Firewire support.
