I have built a VistaPE cd with Ghost on it, and it appears to work. That is as long as i keep the mouse moving. If i stop moving the mouse the speed that it is writing the ghost file slows way down, i saw it go down to 9 mb/min. but as soon as i start moving the mouse the speed starts going back up again. Any ideas as what is going on? or how i can fix it? I am using a USB mouse going into a ps2 adapter that that helps any.

Really odd, I use ghost32 11.01 at least once a week from VistaPE & never had any problems at all

Might the configuration of your motherboard - is it a laptop?

Thanks for responding. It is a mobile board. What in the setup of the board could do that?

You haven't provided any details about your computer or motherboard so I shouldn't really guess the reason why this happens on your machine, but based on my past experiences with laptops I've also noticed that both CPU's and motherboards have their own tricks to save battery life, this also applies to wireless connectivity and display light of course.

I use as example the Sony Vaio PCG-C1V from ~2000 - it used a transmeta crusoe processor which shifted from 600Mhz to 300Mhz after a while or whenever running lower on battery life.

Wouldn't be surprised to see newer motherboards applying the same concepts - maybe it can be changed in the BIOS definitions - try disabling all power saving options if possible, otherwise - no solution likely - or use some tool to programatically "force" some activity on your computer and avoiding going into this sluggier mode..

Maybe using autoIt to simulate some mouse activity at certain intervals (once every two minutes for example) helps.

It could also be that the screen redraw gets lazy without the mouse moving around. In other words, you could be getting the same speed regardless of mouse movements - the download speed readout just updates more often if you move the mouse. *shrugs* just a theory.

AutoIt is a good solution, but maybe another options exists: Auto Clicker http://www.teamxtcga...uto_clicker.htm

It'll simulate mouse clicks so you can compare the results (mouse active vs. inactive data transfer speed)

I don't use Auto Clicker because I believe it's only free for personal use

AutoClicker requires directx9?

Just wish people actually made applications simpler instead of requiring all these huge sized libraries.

Also googled a bit deeper and found a good freeware app good for this task.

Press CTRL+M to pause recording and can loop back itself - you can also autostart and save the session to files wich can later be played as parameter when running the app (help docs included)

It's freeware and can be distributed freely, hope it helps you moon goon!
