Cannot say (nor I want to check) WHEN it happened, but latest-latest aka:
http://grub4dos.chen....6a-2018-03-03/

has this menu.lst embedded :ph34r::

pxe detect
configfile
default 0
timeout 1

title find /menu.lst, /boot/grub/menu.lst, /grub/menu.lst
errorcheck off
configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst
configfile /grub/menu.lst
if "%@root%"=="(ud)" && calc *0x82A0=*0x82b9&0xff
if "%@root:~1,1%"=="f" && find --set-root --devices=f /menu.lst && configfile /menu.lst
find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /menu.lst && configfile /menu.lst
find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /boot/grub/menu.lst && configfile /boot/grub/menu.lst
find --set-root --ignore-floppies --ignore-cd /grub/menu.lst && configfile /grub/menu.lst
configfile http://b.chenall.net/menu.lst
errorcheck on
commandline

title commandline
commandline

title reboot
reboot

title halt
halt

I won't even make a comment on it :w00t:, I respect too much the good grub4dos developers :) to risk offending them with my bluntness. :frusty:

Since seemingly it is impossible to have a normal discussion on topic, this thread is locked as an announcement, please submit ideas, comments, ramblings, whatever here:

Chenall said it is used for ipxegrldr which is inside the latest release package.

ipxegrldr is someway a merger or combination of ipxe and grldr.

Sorry but I cannot talk too much about ipxegrldr, because I never used it, and I am not a grub4dos developer any longer. Google for it please.

Good, and then this new, nice  :thumbsup:  ipxe loader should (IMNSHO) use a separate menu.lst , let's say imenu.lst, or *whatever* AND NOT "pollute" the standard menu.lst.

I think it is not a problem with the "pollution". Previously I placed a "pxe detect" command in the standard preset-menu. On normal (non-PXE) boot, the "pxe detect" will do nothing. But in the case of PXE boot, the "pxe detect" is required, or else the boot would fail in some (if not most) cases.

Which is fine, it is your opinion, and I of course respect it. :)

In the case of PXE the actual grldr was PXE capable, so it made a lot of sense.

In this case the "normal" grldr won't have any use for the http: line, no way, so it makes not ANY sense to add that line to the EMBEDDED menu.lst in "normal" grldr and grub.exe.

OK, no sense, but also no harm. Perhaps someday the ipxe would merge into grub4dos. At least there are requests as such.

So, people are actually requesting a way to load data from an unknown address over the internet through a non-secure protocol at the lowest (BIOS) possible level? :dubbio:

Interesting.  :ermm:

1) Latte

2) Pane

3) Pomodori pelati (la pasta c'è)

4) Carta igienica

5) Caffè

6) Zucchero

The above is my grocery shopping list for tonight, not that I expect that anyone nor the automagical board software will actually procure that and deliver it to my home, but surely no harm.
