Supposedly the "OS Boot information" checkbox shows driver names on loadup, safe mode style - this works in 7, but seemingly not 8.1+, whether using the checkbox or "bcdedit /set {default} sos on". It seems I am not the only one with this issue, and I have replicated it on 3 different computers, in both legacy and EFI modes. Some recommend setting bootmenupolicy to legacy but this makes no difference either. Boot logging works but does not show the boot logging splash screen that was displayed in Windows 7.
