I'm looking to buy a 256GB MicroSD for my LG v10 phone. Said card should preferably be UHS (ultra high speed) Class 1 (which is technically faster than a regular class 10 but still also qualifies as a class 10). Class 2/3 wont work because they have extra pins.

I'm not even sure that such a card exists yet. I was checking Amazon but all I found were what appears to be regular size SDs for cameras and such.

Why so much space? Well, because I love my space, and my phone supports an MSD up to 2TB. I'm a huge fan of big hard drives, etc. With a card of this size I know I'll never run of space for games and other stuff.

If anyone can drop a sales link then I'd appreciate it. But please, only from reputable manufacturers like PNY, Sandisk, etc. None of that cheap Chinese shit. Price is no obstacle as long as it isnt absurdly high. Must also ship to the US, if they arent located here.

Thanks!

There is no 256GB UHS 1 MicroSD.

Sandisk offers a 200GB UHS 1 MicroSD. Available down the large river ;)

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it. There are 128GB MSDs available, and so I naturally assumed that 256GB would be the next bigger thing to look for. I made the switch to LG after a long history of using Samsung smartphones. I got tired of Samsung because, even though they're excellent phones, the battery life is shit. Every Samsung Android I've owned has been this way. My last was Note 4, but when I discovered Note 5 would have no MSD slot or removable battery, that instantly turned me against them. So next I just have to order this MSD and a Zerolemon extended battery/case combo and I'm set. The stock battery is OK, but I've read good reviews about ZL's battery.

I haven't had any luck finding a 256GB, the ones I've saw are most likely fake. I would prefer to have 500GB anyway, I think it's a happy median because I would never run out of space since I would never completely fill it no matter what I do. Anything more than that is overkill.

Well, more than one year passed since the initial post, Sandisk has one now besides the 200 Gb one, with a slightly increased read speed (95 Mb/s vs. 90 Mb/s) :

Sure :),

it's a very good piece of advice to suggest buying a 256 Gb UHS-I micro SD Card online, particularly on e-bay, and particularly from a private seller.

A good alternative source could be some Honk Kong/Taiwan/Chinese shops, but only if advertised for a price particularly low (no more than 25% of the list one).

The Samsung one:

http://www.samsung.c...-mb-mc256da-am/

is list price 250 bucks, most probably can be found for 160-230 US$ "street price".

For that kind of money (in exchange for a small rectangle of plastic that could have *anything* inside), I want to know personally the seller (and all his family including his father AND grandfather) and have the thingy delivered by hand, together with a signed, notarized, affidavit about its authenticity and source, or - failing that - a test certification by an authorized, nationally recognized laboratory . ;)

@Wonko: I don't trust SanDisk products, reason being, I've had a handful of flash drives by them that failed within months of buying them new. I prefer to go with established brands by reputable companies, I'm particularly preferential to Samsung, having owned several of their SSDs. I don't mind paying more for quality, as long as the price difference isn't substantial. Besides that, I would rather wait for 500gb to come around, I already have a 200GB and it is nearly filled. I have an unlimited data, I download game and software torrents (huge ones, like 60GB+) to my Androids, then transfer them to my PC. I don't have home Internet, mobile data and WiFi hotspots are my only connections.

Read speeds, it is the writes. Despite buying faster cards and trying to use a flash-optimal FS (like F2FS and ext4), I have found that there is no substantial difference in write speeds in say, ext4 vs exFAT. I really have no idea how much proper alignment plays in regards to speed, but it probably isn't much. My guess is that a properly aligned low quality card will still be slower than a misaligned high quality card, it's the quality of the flash that counts.

I don't trust most eBay sellers regardless of their ratings, I much prefer Amazon or NewEgg or some other reputable online store. The gaming laptop I bought online a few months ago cost close to $4K, I knew the importance of buying from an established site that is widely trusted and will back their claims (warranty, RMA, etc). Although I would have preferred to buy in a physical store, it is nearly impossible to find Sager/Clevo in the physical stores like Best Buy, they are generally that is found mostly online or from custom builders.

If a price is much lower than the established norm then it's probably too good to be true. I'm skittish of buying from fly-by-night street sellers, they can't back their claims most of the time, are oftentimes running illegal outfits, and their goods tend to be used and of questionable quality. I don't usually buy used anything when it comes to electronics, given my tendency to abuse and push to the limit. With me the probability of failure rises substantially.

What is a private seller (in relation to what)? And what is "Honk Kong" (that one was too funny not to laugh at)?

Typo, Hong Kong.

Private seller, like one that has not a shop and only sells memory cards (or USB sticks, etc.).
