Significance of special Registry Entries related to booting WTG USB & VHD?

What are the various valid entries for these keys and what do they signify, especially when booting off

- Internal disk,

- External/ USB Disk and

- VHD booting of Internal & External..

as

-Normal Windows installs or

- WTG Installs.

What values and how should one change them or modify them manually?

1)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\HardwareConfig\BootDriverFlags

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\HardwareConfig]
"BootDriverFlags"=dword:00000014

reg.exe add
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control /f /v BootDriverFlags /t REG_DWORD /d 0x6

2)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\PortableOperatingSystem

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
"PortableOperatingSystem"=dword:00000001

reg.exe add
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\PnP /f /v PollBootPartitionTimeout /t REG_DWORD /d 15000

@cdob - How does Windows VHD behavior change if/ when its marked as or not marked as Portable OS

Its possible for me to create native Boot VHDs using..

..DISM - Here I have the choice to manually change PortableOS Flag - On or Off.. how will that impact the VHD OS.. for..

..when I wish to move the VHD to new machine or keep it on same machine..
..Enable/ Disable to flag based on Staying or Moving needs?

and other tools also..
WinToUSB
WinNTBoot

etc.

Its kind of mandatory "once Sysprep" a machine before making WIM or Migrating it to VHD or new machine.

But once an OS its tagged Portable it could be moved around without Sysprep - We are assuming that the OS does so with Awareness..

Can we change its awareness Radar by changing some of these Registry Flags? i.e. PortableOS or not..

Maybe it runs a 'Generalize' everytime it boots? - Something non Portable might not do?

Maybe it stores 'Hardware profiles & drivers' for each machine it boots on
