No need to use a third party bootmanager, XP NTLDR and BOOT.INI is more than enough for managing a dual booting between two instances of XP.

See this for reference:
http://thpc.info/dualboot.html
http://thpc.info/dual/dual2konxp.html

find here a basic step by step guide:
http://www.homerecor...w...tory&id=151

find here a reference to NT systems booting and boot.ini syntax:
http://www.msfn.org/...showtopic=25365
http://www.msfn.org/...showtopic=33030

and some more "technical" details, using an external bootmanager to hide partitions (not needed unless for particular setups):
http://www.msfn.org/...showtopic=47206

Basically, you need to install XP twice in two different partitions.

Installing two instances of XP on the same partition, but in different SYSTEM folders (i.e. /WINNT and /WINDOWS) is as well possible, but a few directories, will be "common" between the two installs and this might cause problems.

This can be avoided by using the Unattended. txt (or, more conveniently, nlite) to change one of the two setups with different folder names.

If you need some specific help, feel free to post your questions, after you have read the above referenced links.

P.S.:

I have tried XOSL which I payed for

You are joking, right?

XOSL is a FREEWARE, if you payed anything for it you have been victim of a scam!

Sorry about that I meant OSL2000 not XOSL, my stupid :confused1: brain

The above is quite close to what I am after, can you recommend GRUB for hiding and un-hiding primary partitions.

Thanks for all your efforts. :confused1:

Well, actually what I recommend for just hiding/unhiding partitions is either:
1) Partita:
http://www.pedrofrei...om/crea1_en.htm
2) OS-BS:
http://www.boot-land...mbldr-t334.html

(I would say the second is better as it has been actively developed recently, first one most probably suffers from some size limitations)

There are REASONS, you see, both of the above fit ENTIRELY in the 512 bytes of the MBR, thus there is nothing "non-standard" in the hidden sectors of the HD.

But the whole point, if I may, is WHY :confused1: you need to make things this complicated?

I don't want to put you down, mind you, I am only happy to see more people learning new tricks, but you must understand that this represents a rather "advanced" topic.

If what you are looking after is some kind of "hidden recovery partition", you might be interested in these:

The more details you give, rather than playing this "hinting" game, the more probable it is that someone can give you the best advice.
