In an un expected and dramatic move  :w00t: , reboot.pro was today added :1st: to the all time Simon King's Censorship Hall of Fame:

http://www.zipmagic....ic.php?f=4&t=82

finally being awarded the same relevance as other competitors such as MSFN, Wikipedia and TabletPCReview:

http://www.zipmagic....ewforum.php?f=4

Unfortunately the precursor of all, DonationCoder, has not been included. :(

For those that are unaware of the events in those early days, before  Simon King's Censorship Hall of Fame was founded, here are some relevant links:

http://www.donationc...p?topic=30851.0

http://www.donationc...p?topic=33215.0

http://www.donationc...p?topic=33638.0

To be fair, DonationCoder had the privilege of being addressed in a press release:

http://www.marketwat...nrar-2013-09-23

and to be mentioned in a newsletter to the Licensed users of MagicRAR:

http://www.nsaneforu...-round-1-fight/

While I believe that this achievement is on par of the above, if any of the Licensed users of ZipMagic members of the board would receive a similar letter, it would be nice if they could publish it here, somehow just entering the Hall of Fame seems a tadbit less relevant than a targeted e-mail.

The expected UPROAR of indignation about censorship on TabletPcReview on Slashdot:

http://slashdot.org/...erging-products

NEVER was, that could be another way to have reboot.pro distinguish itself from the other entries in the Hall of Fame.

This story makes me sad... It's a good thing to be passionate, but he have to learn the limit and to temper himself, and to learn the limit between announcement and advertisement.
So, even if I dislike censorship, I agree with the choice of Nuno.

This also confirms my idea that mixing job and passion often leads to great disillusionments...

Well, but here we are not talking of ordinary people, I would guess that when you invent something that is such an innovative breakthrough and you additionally manage to transform your original idea into a company that becomes the technology leader in the relevant industry:

http://www.prweb.com...web12377787.htm

ZIPmagic Software is the inventor of transparent disk compression for Microsoft Windows, and the technology leader in the data compression industry.

you have to put into account that you may be subject to this kind of censorship.

Update:

MSFN made it again, gaining a new particular mention in the Hall of Fame:

http://www.zipmagic....ewforum.php?f=4

http://www.zipmagic....ic.php?f=4&t=83

And at the same time, I would say unexpectedly, the greatest poll of all about Reboot.pro censorship:

http://www.zipmagic....ic.php?f=4&t=82

remains at 0 votes, it seems like members of the zipmagic forum are not interested in such important topics as freedom of advertisement speech. :dubbio:

Update:
surfaceforums.net was added to the censorship list on September 9 2015:
http://www.zipmagic....ewforum.php?f=4
http://www.zipmagic....c.php?f=4&t=102

The greatest poll of all still remains at 0 votes, however:

Still sad about what happened, Simon was not your average spammer in which we are quick to pull the trigger. It got quite annoying for the folks here to see all that "magic" advertisements about his software, but in overall I'm sad it got this point both here and in other places around the web that got tired of him.

This thing about public shaming of forum sites and administrators from where he got expelled is just plain silly.

Great. Everyone say "thanks" to Wonko. He resurrected this old thread, then Simon got a couple hundred visits back to his site and decided to register a few users that "magically" posted about the wonders of his tooling. :chair:

Wonko, I'd prefer not having to clean up spam every. Spoils that nice cup of coffee that one enjoys when starting the day. If you keep bringing the "magic" topics to surface then you'll risk being appointed as reboot forum janitor ad eternum.

Well, for the record, first Simon decided to re-register as a new user (or two) in order to promote the new groundbreaking Zempel-Liv-Simon compression :w00t: and only then Wonko decided to post again on this thread updating it with some news. (it is not exactly the same thing)

And Simon is insisting on it, right now he is vishein from Netherlands:

http://reboot.pro/to...cated/?p=195657

On MSFN, I am losing the count , he registers as two or three new user per day, as soon as the previous alter-ego posts (promoting or shilling/astroturfing Zipmagic) are deleted by the mods.

You could just ignore the posts. Everytime you respond he then responds and more traffic is generated.

Well, not really.
There is no evidence of an increase of traffic because of replies, and not specifically about my replies.

A  thread he started under one of the n aliases was simply deleted by an Admin/Mod and here is a new thread:
http://reboot.pro/to...e-infographics/

And if noone replies, he replies himself:

http://reboot.pro/to...cated/?p=195672

It seems like he is wanting to have a thread shilling or astroturfing (directly or indirectly) for his software as top (more recent one) in Windows 10 sub-forum, at all costs.

Actually given the average (limited) number of neurons someone actually using (or worse liking :w00t:) Windows 10 has, it is likely that he will manage to lure quite a few peeps into buying the program.

On the other hand, posts that not explicitly name the software package or miss a direct link to his site are probably ineffective on the intended audience ;).

It sounds more like he is trying - somehow - to give to the software some (non-existing) background of "popularity" or of "talked about", maybe in order to gain some relevance/presence online.

He managed to have Ed Bott (and I am saying all) actually review somehow positively a previous version of the software in the past, maybe this way he will manage to find a more sentient "big name" reviewer do the same.

Today I banned around 10 aliases.

It's just a finger snip, compared with the time of creating a new email adress - registering to reboot.pro - answering the validating email etc.

If our friend wants, I like to do this finger snip.

Yes, I was looking on the stats. Reboot is getting quite a lot of new shiny registrations.. :-)

Not an easy life for spammers around here. Simon, you need to be more original when spamming around here. Here are some surviving examples that didn't got deleted:

http://reboot.pro/to...360-air-max-tn/

http://reboot.pro/to...2634-im-jadogg/

http://reboot.pro/topic/12602-hi/

Wonko, where is that nice Chinese member some years ago that was spamming with a poem inside an image? That was A+ spam quality, to this day have absolutely no idea about what he advertising. :-)

simonking and magic zip have been creating accounts and spamming the DonationCoder forum like mad for the last couple of days -- we've probably banned 50+users and their associated posts.

I did a quick search and found this thread -- which even mentions the weird run-ins we've had with simon king in the past.

it is hard to believe how unhinged this all is -- it's not the efforts of a normal company trying to get spam posted, it's clearly something else -- if i had to guess its an attempt to get a ton of negative publicity in the belief that this will help them.  either that or it's just an unhinged person.  regardless, eventually this is likely to blow up in the face of this company, and rather soon.

anyway, i'm treating the recent massive spam attack on our forum as a good thing -- it's kind of like we hired someone to help us refine our spammer banning tools and streamline them, and make sure its painless for us to deal with a high volume spam attack.  so it's all good :)

Update:

Curiously the Hall of Fame was deleted altogether.

Still some traces remain (just for tomorrow net archeologists):
