First, I come from Taiwan, so English writting is a little bit hard to me, but I'll use simple words to explain it.

I reinstall whole system 3 times to find why this issue happened, and I want to tell you guys, that's why I register an account here.

If your PC connecting a USB device (HD), and reboot system, you will find your ramdisk device disappear in "My Computer", ramdisk is working, but not show up, and you can't acces R:\ it will show error (not exist).

I think it's a bug ? I hope this post can help someone, and I really like Imdisk and dynamic memory control, love and thanks.

Win7 64bit + Imdisk 20140818 version

Just to be sure: what do you mean by "ramdisk is working"? Can you access it through other applications?

:frusty:
I can't believe it. I spent more than a day to try to fix that bug. Would it be possible than Explorer ignores any notification for more than one second? That could be indeed related to some hardware devices that take their time to be initialized but... How could be Explorer bugged to this point?

Anyway. Omg, it seems that you have a machine where this bug can be reliably reproduced, at least for now. So, if you don't mind, would you accept that I send you some test versions? If you agree, please send me a message at v77@secure-mail.biz.

Thanks for reply.

When this issue happened, I can see it (Ramdisk) in Imdisk virtualdisk driver list, and I can only through it to open R:\ (Ramdisk), but same as I said, if I just type R:\ it will show error (not exist)

And it just happened again, even I'm not connecting USB device

The solution for me now, is connect a USB device and remove it, then Ramdisk (R:\) will show up

I think the problem is neither the antivirus nor an USB drive. All this can slightly delay the moment where the ramdisk is started, and so, sometimes the notifications are received by Explorer, sometimes not.

This is the old bug I am talking in the second part of this message, and it seems that my "fix" does not work at all. So, I have to try something else.

For now, adding an USB drive can indeed force Explorer to refresh its list of drive letters. You also can try this tiny "fix" (see the attached file), but you have to run it manually, at least for now.
