This is an interesting poll, but I think it needs a few more alternatives. Hyper-V, Parallels and QEmu are three that come into mind right now. There are probably a few more of them, but at least some of those very common ones should be included here, in my opinion! :)

Btw, I also thought about adding Virtual Server, but on the other hand "Virtual PC" could be changed to "Virtual PC or Virtual Server" if you like. The core virtualization engine in those two are pretty much the same thing, they are just administered in different ways to be better in single-user vs server platforms.

Thank you for your suggestion. I added a poll "Other", so that people can vote for "Other" options. I added only four votes that I know of.

I havnt found one that does everything I need from VM. I use VB, VMWare, Qemu and often these still need help from Plop and VMUSB Boot.

I used to use VMWare Player but it seemed the performance took a real nose dive the last few versions.  I switched to VirtualBox and am happy.

Up till a few weeks ago I used ESXi Free on an old server I had at home.  It worked great until a disk and power supply died, the replacement cost was too high so I ditched it.

I like KVM best, but I know at least one person running Xen on a home server.
