Hey,

I have a Project running in my Firm where I need to create a Windows PE 4.0 with a working Desktop.

I have already searched for a long time now and haven't found anything usefull yet. I tried to use the EzPE4 but unfortunatly when I try to download it, I get a Virus Error and thus I can't download it.

Is there any other way than using the EzPE4 to get a working WinPE 4.0 iso with a Desktop? Any Help is appreciated.

Hey,

thanks for the Help. But I'm encountering some Problems with your Solution.

I'm unsure how to use it properly. Do I need a Blank .vhd File and an Windows 8.iso for it? Or does it need a .vhd File in which Windows 8 is installed?

Source preparation:
Win8 x64 ISO Or Win8 32-bits Enterprise Evaluation ISO file can be used
http://care.dlservic...E_EN-US_DV5.ISO
9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247_X86FRE_ENTERPRISE_EVAL_EN-US-HRM_CENA_X86FREE_EN-US_DV5.ISO

Boot with Windows 7/8 or 7 PE and then use WinNTSetup2
to Install Windows 8 x86 or x64 on primary active partition of internal harddisk Or to Install Win8 x64 Pro in 15 GB VHD

Before using VHD_W8_Compact.exe you have got to use the Win8 ISO to do a fresh Install as described above.

WinNTSetup2 will prepare drive for Install of Win8 Or it can use and make the empty VHD that can be used only in case of Win8 x64 Pro

Does it necessarily has to be the Enterprise Version of Windows 8? Or is the Pro Version enough?

32-bits Enterprise Evaluation version can be downloaded,

but Pro version ISO is even better, since it allows you to Install into VHD by using WinNTSetup2

In general one can say that 32-bits is preferred since it allows to use 2.5 GB VHD in making Portable Win8 VHD

whereas x64 needs at least 3.5 GB for that case.

It is clear that the smaller size loads faster into RAMDISK especially useful when Mini 8 VHD is located on Internal harddisk.

Yes you need WinNTSetup2 to prepare VHD for Install of Win8 Pro in VHD
